So, 2023, huh? Felt like just yesterday I was trying to figure out what to do with myself in 2022, and now another year of that golf thing has flown right on by. Time, I tell ya, it’s a funny thing. Anyway, I got this itch to look back at the golf majors this year, and I figured, why not write about it? Might as well share my little journey with whoever’s interested.
First thing I did was to dig up who even won these things. I mean, I catch a game here and there, but I ain’t exactly glued to the TV for every tournament. Found out we had four fellas taking the big prizes: Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Wyndham Clark, and Brian Harman. Quite the lineup, those guys.
Then I thought, “What clubs were these guys using?” I started poking around for that info, and let me tell you, it’s a whole different world out there with golf equipment. It seems every year there is something new and fancy.
After that, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole, reading up on some of these players’ histories. Take this Koepka guy, for instance. This wasn’t his first rodeo, not by a long shot. And Rahm, another major under his belt. But then you have Clark and Harman, maybe not as much in the spotlight, but they sure made their mark this year.
My Little Research Journey:
- Looked up the winners: Started with the basics. Who won what? Got the names: Rahm, Koepka, Clark, and Harman.
- Searched their gear: This was interesting. Lots of fancy tech in those golf bags.
- Read up on their histories: Learned some cool stuff. Like how Koepka’s been around the block a few times, winning big.
- Compared the players: Noticed some differences, you know? Some are big names, others are more like underdogs. But they all won, so they must be doing something right.
It’s wild to think about how much effort these guys put in. And the travel! Back in the day, they used boats and trains. Now it’s all jets. Times have changed, that’s for sure. I read somewhere that a guy named Bobby Jones used to travel like 150,000 miles just for tournaments, but on boats and trains. Can you imagine?
It’s funny, you know. One day you’re watching these guys on TV, and the next you’re reading about their whole life story and what clubs they use. Makes you appreciate the game a bit more, I guess. And it makes you think about how much goes on behind the scenes that we don’t even see.
Anyway, that was my little adventure into the 2023 golf majors. Just thought I’d share. Maybe next year, I’ll actually watch all the games from start to finish. Or maybe I’ll just stick to reading about them afterward. Who knows!
