Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again, and today we’re gonna talk about something that’s been bugging me for a while: Where is Jayson Tatum from? I mean, I’ve been following this guy for some time now, he’s a total beast on the court, but I realized I didn’t really know much about his background. So, I got down and dirty and did some digging.
First thing I did? I started simple. Just threw “Jayson Tatum” into the good old search bar. Loads of stuff came up, of course. Lots about his stats, recent games, that kinda stuff. But I wanted his origin story. Then I thought of adding ‘from’ at the end, and it became clear after skimming a few pages: the dude’s from St. Louis, Missouri. Born and bred. That’s what it said, March 3, 1998.
But that wasn’t enough for me. I wanted the full picture. So, I kept at it, going from the first page to the next, looking for more details. Found out he went to Chaminade College Preparatory School. Fancy name, right? Apparently, he was a big deal there, one of the best high school players in the country, all those other stuff.
After high school, he goes to Duke University. Yeah, the Duke. Played college ball there, averaged some crazy numbers, like 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. I mean, who does that? After just one year there, he makes the leap to the NBA.
The Boston Celtics picked him up in the 2017 draft. And get this, he was only 19 when he played his first NBA game. 19! Most of us were still figuring out life at that age, but this guy was already scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in his debut. Wild, right?
