So today I wanted to mess around with those little fort emojis. You know, those little pictures you can put in your texts? Yeah, those things. I remember seeing some pretty cool ones that looked like castles or forts, so I figured, why not try to find and use them?
First thing I did was open up my text app and started typing. I knew there had to be a way to bring up those emojis. After poking around for a bit, I found out that if I pressed the Windows logo key and the period key at the same time, a little emoji keyboard popped up. Neat!
Once I had that keyboard open, I started hunting for the fort emojis. But I didn’t see any that looked like forts right away. Bummer. So, I did what anyone would do – I looked it up online. Typed in “fort emoji” and scrolled through the results.
Here’s what I learned:
- Apparently, you don’t want to go overboard with the emojis. Like, don’t use more than three in one message.
- Also, don’t use the same emoji over and over again in the same message. It’s like, okay, we get it, you like that emoji.
- And it’s better not to replace words with emojis, unless you’re doing some special emoji-only thing. Emojis are supposed to make your text better, not replace it.
Anyway, I dug a bit deeper and found out that emojis are these little picture symbols you can use to show faces, feelings, objects, animals, food, all sorts of stuff. And they’re different from emoticons, which are those old-school smiley faces you make with colons and parentheses.
There were a bunch of websites where you could look up the meaning of each emoji, which was pretty handy. They even had the codes for them, not that I needed those. And it turns out most of these emojis work on the big social media sites like Facebook.
So, after all that, I still couldn’t find an actual “fort” emoji, but I did find a bunch of others that I could use to make it look like a fort. Like, I found this one ud83eudd7a which means pleading or begging, but it can also mean sadness or cuteness. Maybe I’ll use that for the flag on top of my fort. I will try it next time.
It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but hey, I learned a few things about emojis along the way. And now I know how to bring up that emoji keyboard, so that’s a win in my book.
