Okay, so, I was messing around online the other day, and I got curious about this lady, Sarah Thomas. You know, the first female referee in the NFL? Yeah, that one. I was like, how tall is she? I mean, she’s around all these huge football players, right?
So I started digging. First, I went to the usual place, you know, just a basic search engine. Typed in “Sarah Thomas height.” Nothing. A bunch of articles about her being a ref, her making history, and that she was born on September 13, 1973, but nothing about how tall she is.
Then I went a little deeper. Checked out some sports websites, you know the big-name ones. Still nothing! It’s like her height is some big secret. They talk about her being the first woman to officiate a Super Bowl in 2021, the first woman to officiate a major college football game and some other achievements. Also, I found she’s from Pascagoula.
- I started thinking, maybe I should check out some NFL forums.
- So I jumped into a couple of those.
- People were talking about her calls, her jersey number (which is 53, by the way), but no one mentioned her height!
I even tried to find pictures of her standing next to other people, you know, to try to guess. But it’s tough! Most of the pictures are action shots, and it’s hard to get a good sense of scale.
I did find out some other random stuff while I was searching. Apparently, the highest-paid NFL referee can’t really be figured out because they keep that info private. But, this guy, Walt Anderson, he was making like $250,000 by the end of his career in 2019. There are also Brad Allen and Craig Wrolstad among the highest-paid.
And get this – there was a woman named Lauren Silberman who tried out for the NFL back in 2013. That’s pretty cool, even though she didn’t make it onto a team.
Anyway, back to Sarah Thomas’s height. I’m starting to think it’s just not public information. Maybe she doesn’t want people to know, or maybe it’s just not something they track for refs. It is a mystery. Although I did not find the height, I found that Thomas is still on the NFL’s officiating roster, listed as a down judge.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure. I still don’t know how tall Sarah Thomas is. But I learned some other interesting things along the way. It just goes to show, sometimes you go looking for one thing and end up finding something else entirely. Maybe it’s the journey that matters, right?
