So, the other day I was trying to make this “i still hate christian laettner” t-shirt. Sounds simple, right? Well, let me tell you, it turned into a whole thing.
I started by grabbing one of those plain white tees from my closet. You know, the kind you get in a pack of five for like ten bucks? Anyway, I laid it out on my kitchen table and tried to think of the best way to get the words on there.
First, I messed around with some stencils I found online. Printed them out, cut out the letters, and tried to use fabric paint to fill them in. Big mistake. The paint bled everywhere, and the letters looked all wonky. It was a total mess, and I almost gave up right then and there.
Then I went to plan B.
- I remembered I had some of that iron-on transfer paper lying around from when I tried to make custom tote bags. That was another disaster, but I figured it was worth another shot.
- I typed out the “i still hate christian laettner” in a bold font on my computer. Had to make sure it was reversed, of course, because of the whole iron-on thing. It’s like that time when I tried to iron on a “2B’s skirt” design I found. Don’t ask.
- Printed it out, trimmed around the edges, and slapped it onto the shirt.
Then came the moment of truth: ironing. I carefully followed the instructions, pressed down hard, and hoped for the best. It felt like I was ironing for hours. Just thinking about it makes me tired. I’d been at this all day, and I was starting to feel like I was wrestling with the shirt, not ironing it.
When I finally peeled off the backing paper, I was actually pretty surprised. It looked… decent! The letters were all there, and they were straight. There was one tiny smudge where I messed up with the iron, but overall, it was a win. It is way better than that “2B’s skirt” incident.
I wore the shirt to a game watch party last weekend, and everyone got a good laugh. Some people even asked where I got it. I just told them it was a one-of-a-kind creation, born from blood, sweat, and a whole lot of frustration.
So yeah, that’s the story of my “i still hate christian laettner” t-shirt. It was way more work than I expected, but hey, at least I got a cool shirt and a good story out of it. Maybe I should write a blog about this… nah.
