Alright, so I wanted to mess around with this “rotting wound” thing in BG3. I’d heard about it, seen some stuff online, but wanted to really get my hands dirty and see how it works, you know?

Getting Started
First, I needed to, well, get the rotting wound. I remembered reading somewhere that it’s related to those cursed items, so I went on a hunt. I spent a good chunk of time just wandering around, looting every chest, and checking every vendor. No Luck for the first few hours.
The Discovery
I finally found an item! I don’t remember exactly where I found this cursed item, I think it was somewhere dark place, or it could be a shop, I’m not pretty sure.
I equipped it immediately, ignoring that little warning message. Figured, “Hey, how bad could it be?” Famous last words, right?
Experiencing the “Rot”
Initially, nothing. I ran around, fought a few goblins, felt pretty good. Then, I started noticing my stats… dipping. And it happened again. And again. It felt so awful.

- Constitution was the first thing that got hit. And it will continue decrease in the future.
- Other stats are also decreased.
Trying to Fix It
Okay, panic time. I chugged some potions, thinking that would clear it up. Nope. Didn’t even touch it. I rested at camp, figuring a long rest would do the trick. Still nothing. My stats were still dropping!I start to think how to solve this problem.
Then I remembered, “Oh yeah, cursed item!” So, I quickly remove it and long rest in the camp. Finally, my stats are recovered!
Lessons Learned
So, yeah, that “rotting wound” thing? It’s a pain. It’s gradual, so you don’t notice it at first, but it’ll keep eating away at your character until you unequip the item. It’s a real learning experience. Don’t be like me, read the item description before you use it!
