Okay, so, I decided to get into MLB home run picks. It all started when I saw some guys online boasting about their wins. I thought, “Hey, I watch a lot of baseball, maybe I can do that too!”

Getting Started
First, I dug around for information. I mean, I know baseball, but I wanted to see what stats actually mattered for hitting home runs.
- I looked at things like home run percentages, obviously.
- I also checked out park factors – which stadiums are easier to hit homers in.
- And, I started paying more attention to stuff like exit velocity and launch angle, even though those words sound kinda fancy.
My First Picks
My initial strategy was pretty simple. I picked guys who were on a hot streak, and I favored players who were playing in hitter-friendly ballparks. I also, checked batters vs pitchers, and who got more home runs.
My first few picks? Total bust. I think I went 0 for 5. It was rough. I almost gave up right there, to be honest.
Adjusting the Strategy
But, I’m stubborn, so I kept going. I started diving deeper into the numbers. I realized that hot streaks weren’t everything. Sometimes, a guy is just due for a home run, even if he hasn’t hit one in a while.
I also started looking at things like weather conditions. Wind blowing out? That’s a good sign for home runs! I even paid attention to the umpires – some of them have a bigger strike zone, which can affect how pitchers throw.

Some Success (Finally!)
Slowly but surely, I started getting better. I hit a few picks here and there. It wasn’t anything crazy, but it was enough to keep me motivated. I also created simple excel to keep records of good batters, and pitchers.
Still Learning
I’m still no expert, that’s for sure. I have good days and bad days. It’s a lot tougher than it looks! But, I’m having fun with it, and I’m learning a ton about baseball along the way. I even suprised my friends with my knowledge on it!
My biggest takeaway so far? Don’t just blindly follow the “experts” or the hot streaks. Do your own research, trust your gut, and don’t be afraid to be wrong. It’s all part of the process.
And always be aware of injuries, because it will destroy all your chooses, I learned it the hard way.
