Well, folks, let me tell you somethin’ about this young fella, George Pickens. He’s playin’ for them Pittsburgh Steelers now, a wide receiver. Born back on March 4, 2002, down in Birmingham, Alabama. Can’t say I know much about football myself, but I sure do hear ’bout him from all the buzz in the news and whatnot. Now, this Pickens, he’s got a fire in his belly, and folks are sayin’ he’s got some real talent.
You know, I heard that his daddy, Carl Pickens, was quite the player too, playin’ in the NFL as a wide receiver for them Cincinnati Bengals. Ain’t that somethin’? Carl was even a two-time Pro Bowler, so it looks like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree, I reckon. Now, George, he’s a star in his own right. I think he was drafted by the Steelers back in 2022, round two, pick number 52, if I got it right. Seems like that boy’s been makin’ a name for himself out there.
Now, I ain’t the one to follow every game or anything, but I hear Pickens been throwin’ some moves on the field that have folks talkin’. There was this one game against them Cowboys, ya know, where he had a little somethin’ writ on his eye black. It said “Open F Always.” Well, I tell ya, that sure caught people’s attention. Bold, I say, bold! Seems like George don’t hold back, that’s for sure. When you’re young and hungry like that, you gotta show ‘em what you got, right?
Then, there was a game against the New York Jets, and well, from what I heard, Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Steelers, had himself a mighty good game. A stat line that made people sit up and pay attention. Don’t rightly know all them numbers, but I do know when they say good things, they ain’t just talkin’ for nothin’.
Speaking of family, I hear George’s little brother, Chris Humes, he’s also in the football game. Played college ball at Arkansas State, and now he’s up in Canada playin’ for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Ain’t that somethin’? Seems like football’s runnin’ through their blood. I can only imagine how proud their mama must be watchin’ both them boys out there.
Now, I gotta say, even though I’m no expert on football, I know a thing or two about heart. And from what I’m hearin’, George Pickens has got plenty of that. He don’t back down, and that’s what you need when you’re in the big leagues. It ain’t just about bein’ fast or strong, it’s about that drive, that determination to make it. And it looks like this young man has got a whole lot of that.
Folks been talkin’ ’bout him for a while now, and I’d say he’s one to keep an eye on. If you ask me, this Pickens boy’s gonna go places. I mean, he’s just gettin’ started, but when you’ve got the kind of passion he’s got, I wouldn’t be surprised if he became one of the big names in the NFL one day. Let’s just hope he stays healthy and keeps that fire burnin’!
So, if you’re a fan of the Steelers, or just enjoy watchin’ young talent rise, don’t take your eyes off George Pickens. The boy’s got a whole lot of fight in him, and I reckon we’ll be hearin’ a lot more from him in the years to come.
