Alright, so I wanted to get a good handle on the BYU football team’s setup for this season. You know, who’s playing where, who’s backing up who, the whole nine yards. So, I decided to dig into their depth chart. Here’s how I went about it and what I learned.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find the most up-to-date depth chart. These things change all the time, especially during the pre-season, with injuries, performance shifts, and all that. It’s crucial to have fresh information if you want it to be useful.
The Hunt for Information
My usual starting point is the official team website. You’d think they’d have it front and center, right? Sometimes, that’s the case, but not always. I dug around the football section, checking the roster, news, and any media guide links. Sometimes, they have it tucked away.
When the official site doesn’t deliver, I turn to the big sports websites. I tried searching but it can be a mixed bag. Sometimes you get lucky, and other times you find stuff that’s weeks or months old.
Local newspapers and fan sites are a gold mine, too! So I gave these a try as well.
Putting It All Together
Once I gather a few different versions of the depth chart, from different kinds of sources , it is time to put together what I hunted.

I’m a simple guy. I like to see things laid out clearly. So, I usually end up creating a simple spreadsheet, or even just jotting it down in a notebook. I list the positions (Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, etc.) down one side, and then start filling in the names.
- QB: Player A, Player B, Player C
- RB: Player D, Player E, Player F
- …and so on…
I make sure to note which source I got each piece of information from. That way, if I see conflicting info (like one site has Player X as the starter and another has Player Y), I can try to figure out which source is more reliable or more recent.
What I Found Out about BYU
After looking at multiple sources, including team pages, and sports pages, I finally got a clearer picture of BYU’s depth chart.
Keeping it Updated
The work isn’t over once I’ve made my initial depth chart. Like I said, these things are fluid. So, I try to check back regularly, especially after games, to see if there have been any changes. Keeping up with the news helps, too – injuries are a big factor.
It might seem like a lot of effort, but for me, it’s the best way to really understand how a team is structured and how the coaches are thinking. And hey, it’s always good to be prepared for those game-day conversations, right?
