Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get a better handle on the four golf majors. I mean, I watch them, sure, but I wanted to really know them, you know? So I decided to dive in.

First, I figured I needed a basic list. Just to get them straight in my head. So I started by just jotting them down:
- The Masters
- PGA Championship
- U.S. Open
- The Open Championship (British Open)
That was easy enough. But then I realized I didn’t actually know much about each one. Like, when are they? Where are they played? What makes them special?
So, I started digging. I spent a good chunk of a Saturday afternoon just reading. Nothing fancy, just basic articles and stuff. I learned the Masters is always at Augusta National, which is apparently a super exclusive club. And that it’s always in April. That’s why you see all those beautiful azaleas blooming.
Then the PGA Championship. I found out it moves around to different courses, and it used to be in August, but now it’s in May. Apparently, that was a big change a few years back.
Next up, the U.S. Open. This one, I discovered, is known for being super tough. They set up the courses to be really challenging, with thick rough and fast greens. It’s also played on different courses each year, and it’s always around Father’s Day in June.

Finally, The Open Championship, or the British Open, as most of us call it. This one is the oldest of the four, which I thought was pretty cool. It’s played on links courses, which I learned are these windswept courses by the sea. It’s always in July.
Putting it all Together
After all that reading, I felt like I had a much better grasp. It wasn’t just names anymore; I actually had some context. I even made myself a little cheat sheet with the dates and some key facts about each tournament.
I am now able to have a full picture of the four golf majors.
