Okay, so I was trying to solve this crossword puzzle the other day, you know, the kind with all those tricky word clues. And there was this one clue, “buries,” that just kept stumping me. I mean, I stared at it for like, a solid ten minutes. Nothing.

My Process
First, I tried filling in the surrounding words, hoping to get some crossing letters. I managed to get a few, but they didn’t really help narrow it down. It could be anything, right? “Buries” could be so many things!
- I thought, maybe it’s a synonym? Like, “hides” or “conceals”? Nope, didn’t fit.
- Then I considered verbs, because of context. I went through a bunch of verbs, seriously, a whole bunch! Still nothing.
- I even tried thinking literally, like, putting something in the ground. “Plants”? “Digs”? Nope, still not fitting with the other letters I had.
Finally,I looked at the surrounding word’s empty cells and my answer. I realized I was focusing to much on verbs and * need’t be an action word.
So I just typed “buries” into an online crossword solver, Boom! There it was. Turns * answer is related to entomb. Sometimes you just gotta admit defeat and use the tools available, right?
