Okay, so I saw this thing online about Nico Collins’ 40-yard dash time, and I got curious. I mean, how fast is this guy really? So, I decided to do my own little experiment. Nothing fancy, just me and my stopwatch.

Getting Started
First, I needed to find a good spot. My backyard’s kinda uneven, so I headed to the local park. They’ve got a nice, flat stretch of grass that’s perfect for this. I used my phone to find some sort of football field, I markerd out 40 yards the best I could – I paced it out, figuring each big step was about a yard. Probably not super accurate, but close enough for my test.
The Runs
I didn’t have anyone to run with, so I just focused on timing myself. My goal wasn’t to match Nico (no way I could do that!), but just to see how I stacked up against an NFL player, even if I can’t match it.
- First Run: I felt pretty slow getting started. Kinda stumbled out of the “blocks” (imaginary, of course). Clocked in at something like 6.8 seconds. Yikes.
- Second Run: Focused on exploding off the line. Felt much better, and the time showed it – around 6.2 seconds. Still miles away from Nico, I bet.
- Third Run: Tried to keep that explosive start and maintain speed. Felt good, but I think I got tired towards the end. Time was about 6.3 seconds.
- Fourth Run:I keep focusing on * was about 6.1 secons.
My Thoughts
It’s so obvious that doing a 40-yard dash time by myself, this is way harder than it looks! Trying to time myself and run full-out was a challenge. My times were all over the place, and let’s be real, nowhere near a pro athlete’s time. I’m sure Nico Collins is in a whole different league. It made it easier to understand his real 40-yard dash time.
But, it was a fun little experiment! Gave me a new appreciation for how fast these guys are. Maybe I’ll stick to watching football instead of trying to play it.
