Okay, so I’ve been seeing those mini crosswords from the New York Times everywhere, and I finally decided to try and make one myself. It’s called “imitated nyt crossword”, Sounds cool, huh?

Brainstorming and Grid Design
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil – old school, I know. I started by sketching out a small grid, like 5×5, because I didn’t want to get overwhelmed. The real NYT crossword is huge, but I’m just a beginner!
I doodled a few different grid patterns, trying to make those black squares look kinda symmetrical. It’s harder than it looks! You have to make sure the words can actually fit and intersect properly.
Coming Up with Clues and Answers
Next, I needed some words! I decided to keep it simple, picking words that I actually know. No fancy stuff. I brainstormed a list of short words and then tried to fit them into my grid. It was like a puzzle in itself.
- I used words I knew.
- It’s so hard to fill those spaces in grid.
Once I had the words in place, I started writing clues. This was actually pretty fun. I tried to be a little clever, but not too obscure. The goal is for someone to actually be able to solve it, right?
Testing and Refining
After fill in the clues and answers I made, I tried to solve it. I found some mistakes in my crossword grids. It’s really hard.

My Imitated Crossword
It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. I’m actually kinda proud of it. It’s definitely not as polished as the real NYT crossword, but hey, I made it!
