Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this college football game, and I wanted to find some good schools to build a dynasty with. You know, take a nobody team and turn them into national champions. I did some digging and playing, and here’s what I came up with, from my own experience:

Starting the Search
>
First, I looked for teams that were, well, kinda bad. Like, not powerhouses at all. I wanted a real challenge, you see? I wanted the programs, that have not won for a while!
Checking Out Some Teams
- UTSA: These guys are in Texas, which is great for recruiting, but they’re still pretty new to the whole FBS thing. I played a few seasons with them, and it was fun trying to build them up in a competitive state. The facilities were not the best to start, but it felt real, you know?
- Coastal Carolina: Their teal field is awesome, haha! But seriously, they’ve had some recent success, which made it a bit easier to get started, but they still have a long way to go to be a top team. I liked that balance – not too easy, not too hard.
- South Alabama: Another team in a good recruiting area (Alabama). They’re pretty much overshadowed by the big schools in the state, so it was like a real underdog story trying to get them to compete. I spent a lot of time trying to get better recruits than the big guys!
- Old Dominion: I did start, they were not good at all. But that was part of the appeal! It’s in Virginia, which isn’t a bad recruiting state, but it’s not Texas or Florida either. Made it a different kind of challenge.
My Experience
I jumped into a dynasty with UTSA first. I spent a ton of time on recruiting, trying to convince kids to come to a program that, frankly, wasn’t winning much. It was tough! I played a few games, tried to use some trick plays to make up for the talent gap, It was fun. Lost a few heartbreakers, won a few I shouldn’t have. It’s a grind, for sure.
With Coastal, I tried to keep their momentum going. Scheduled some tougher out-of-conference games to try and boost our prestige. It was cool to see the program getting a little more respect each year. It felt less like building from scratch and more like taking the next step.
I eventually got the best progress with Old Dominion. It took, many seasons. But after finally winning a championship with them, it was the best feeling ever! Beating those well-know and great schools!

What I Learned
It’s all about recruiting, plain and simple. And it takes time. You’re not going to turn these teams into powerhouses overnight. But that’s part of what makes it rewarding. You gotta be patient, find those hidden gem recruits, and build your program slowly but surely.
Don’t be afraid to lose some games early on. It’s going to happen. Just use it as a learning experience and keep grinding. Also, have your playbook solid!
So, that’s my take on it. These are just some of the teams I enjoyed playing with. It depends on what kind of challenge you’re looking for. Go find a team, stick with them, and have fun building something special!
