Okay, so I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons forever, and I’m super into collecting all the art for the museum. One piece that was driving me crazy was the “wild painting right half”. I kept checking Redd’s ship, but it just wouldn’t show up!

So, I started doing some digging online. I scrolled through forums, watched some videos… basically, I became a temporary expert on Redd and his shady art dealings.
My Treasure Hunting Strategy
Here’s what I did:
- Checked Redd Every Time: This is obvious, but I made sure to check Redd’s boat every single time he visited my island. No skipping! I learned he shows up randomly, so consistency is key.
- Time Traveled (a little): Okay, I’ll admit it. I time-traveled a bit. I know, I know, it’s controversial, but I was desperate! I jumped ahead a day, checked for Redd, and if he wasn’t there (or didn’t have the painting), I jumped back.
- Used the “Camera Trick”: I read about this online. Before you even talk to Redd, you can open your camera and kind of peek at the paintings from the side. It’s tricky, but you can sometimes spot fakes this way. I wanted the REAL wild painting right half. I compared the in game picture with the one I saw online, many times.
- Bought Other Stuff (maybe): I also heard that buying other art from Redd (even fakes) might increase the chances of him stocking what you want. I’m not 100% sure if this is true, but I figured it couldn’t hurt. I started buying other art when I was not sure whether it’s real or not.
It took a while, a lot of checking, and a little bit of time-traveling guilt, but finally… FINALLY… Redd had the real “wild painting right half”! I snatched it up so fast, ran to Blathers at the museum, and donated it with a HUGE sigh of relief.
So yeah, that’s my story. Persistence (and maybe a tiny bit of cheating) paid off! Good luck to anyone else still hunting for this one!
