Alright, let me tell you about getting through that Monopoly Go Tax Refund event recently. I logged in like usual, you know, just to grab my daily stuff and see what was happening.

Then I saw this new banner pop up – “Tax Refund”. My first thought was, “Oh great, taxes in a game now?” But then I saw the milestones and the rewards lined up. Dice, cash, sticker packs… okay, you got my attention, Monopoly Go.
Getting Started
So, I decided to give it a go. The main thing seemed to be landing on the tax tiles – Income Tax and Luxury Tax (or Super Tax, whatever they call it). Seemed simple enough, right? Famous last words.
I started rolling, just doing my normal laps around the board. At first, I kept the multiplier low, maybe x3 or x5, just to feel things out. Didn’t want to burn through all my dice right away. I hit a few tax tiles early on, just by luck mostly, and started ticking off the first few milestones.
- Collected some small cash rewards.
- Got a few handfuls of dice back.
- Made a bit of progress, felt okay.
The Middle Grind
After the easy wins, it started getting tougher. The points needed for each milestone jumped up. Just landing on a tax tile wasn’t enough; I needed to land on them a lot. This is where I started thinking about strategy, if you can call it that.
I tried timing my rolls, looking at where the tax tiles were relative to my token. Sometimes I’d boost the multiplier, hoping to land on one with a x20 or x50 hit. That worked… sometimes. Other times, I’d just overshoot and land on something useless, wasting a ton of dice. That part was frustrating, not gonna lie.

This is the part where you really chew through your dice reserves. I found myself running low more than once. Had to wait for the free dice, participate in other mini-events just to get enough rolls to keep pushing for the tax refund milestones.
Pushing Towards the End
The rewards further up the chain looked pretty good – bigger dice bundles, maybe a decent sticker pack. That kept me going. I focused more on hitting those specific tiles. If I was 6, 7, or 8 spaces away, I’d sometimes risk a higher multiplier roll.
There were definitely moments I wanted to just stop. Like, is this really worth hundreds of dice just for a chance at more dice? But, well, you know how it is. You get invested. You see that final milestone reward, and you just want to finish it.
I landed on the Income Tax square what felt like a million times. Luxury Tax seemed harder to hit for some reason, maybe just my luck.
Finishing Up
Eventually, after a lot more rolling than I probably should admit, I managed to hit the final milestone. Got that last big chunk of dice and whatever the final prize was – I think it was a good sticker pack this time, maybe a purple one?

Felt pretty good to complete it, honestly. It was a definite grind, especially towards the end. Used up a lot of dice, took some patience waiting for recharges or winning more rolls elsewhere.
Overall, the Tax Refund event was okay. Pretty typical Monopoly Go event structure – land on specific tiles, collect points, get rewards. The theme was kinda funny, but the gameplay was the usual mix of luck and dice management. Glad I got through it, but also glad it’s over!
