Alright, let’s talk about this Kathleen Swinney, you know, the wife of that Clemson football coach, Dabo somethin’-somethin’. Folks keep jabberin’ about her, so I figured I’d piece together what I heard, ya know, like them old quilts we used to make.
Kathleen and Dabo, a love story, kinda like mine and old Earl’s, just with more football. They been together since high school, Lord have mercy, that’s a long time! Both went to that Alabama school, smart cookies, I guess. She was a schoolteacher, bless her heart, shaping young minds and all that. Now, she’s standin’ by her man, Dabo, that’s what we wives do, ain’t it?
Now, they got themselves three boys, all growed up now. And wouldn’t ya know it, all them boys are mixed up in that football stuff too. One’s playin’, one’s coachin’, and the other one… well, he’s doin’ somethin’ with the team too. That’s a whole lotta football in one family, I tell ya! It’s like when all my chickens started layin’ eggs at the same time, a whole bunch of somethin’ happening all at once.
- Clay, the young’un, he’s playin’ wide receiver, runnin’ around like a jackrabbit.
- Drew, he’s a coachin’ fella, tellin’ them boys what to do.
- And Will, he’s helpin’ out too, volunteerin’ and whatnot.
This Dabo fella, his real name is William, same as his boy, Will. Heard a funny story about that, somethin’ about them votin’ and gettin’ things all mixed up. City folk and their confusions, I swear! It’s like tryin’ to sort out a pile of mixed-up buttons, takes a while to get it right.
Kathleen, she’s a fighter, that one. She had that breast cancer, you know, the one that scares the bejesus outta everyone. But she fought it, brave as a mama bear protectin’ her cubs. Now she’s all about tellin’ folks to get checked and fight it too. Good for her, I say! Reminds me of my cousin Bessie, she fought that nasty cough all winter and came out strong.
They had this fancy party, the “All In Ball” they called it. Sounded highfalutin to me. Made them honorary somethin’-or-others at that Clemson school. Good for them, I guess. Probably had them fancy little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, you know the kind.
Now, about their money… Folks say they got a whole heap of it, millions they say. Don’t know how much Kathleen herself has, but together, they’re sittin’ pretty. Good for them, work hard, play hard, that’s what I always say, even though I mostly just worked hard and then worked some more.
Kathleen, she’s more than just a coach’s wife, you see. She’s a mama, a fighter, and a helper. She’s got her own thing goin’ on, standin’ tall and speakin’ her mind. Just like all us women, doin’ what we gotta do, keepin’ the home fires burnin’ and makin’ sure everyone’s fed and taken care of. And fightin’ when we need to, that’s important too.
So there ya have it, that’s the gist of what I know about Kathleen Swinney. A strong woman, standin’ by her man and doin’ her own thing too. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits.
