Alright, let’s talk about this niners logo thing. You know, the one them football fellas wear. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I see, and what I heard folks gabbin’ about.
First off, they got this red and gold thing goin’ on. Real bright and shiny, like a new penny, but bigger, you know? And them letters, “S” and “F”, all tangled up together like a ball of yarn my old cat used to play with. They say it stands for “San Francisco,” but heck, everyone knows that. It’s in the team’s name, ain’t it? Seems kinda silly to spell it out again, but what do I know? Them city folks got their own ways, I guess.
Now, I heard tell that this wasn’t always the logo. Way back when, they had this picture of a fella, a gold miner, I think. Like one of them fellas you see in them old Western movies. He was wearin’ some funny lookin’ pants, plaid they called ’em, and a red shirt. Looked like he was jumpin’ around, hat flyin’ off and all. Probably celebratin’ findin’ some gold, I reckon. Sounds like a good time to me.
- Red and gold colors, real eye-catchin’.
- Them “S” and “F” letters all mixed up.
- Used to be a picture of a gold miner, jumpin’ around.
This gold miner fella, he had pistols too! Can you believe that? Firing them guns like he was in a real shootout. One shot nearly hit his own head, the silly goose, and the other nearly got his foot. They say they got that picture from the side of some train cars. Imagine that, puttin’ a picture from a train on a football team’s stuff! Them city folks, I tell ya, they got some wild ideas.
They also changed the way they write “49ERS” on them shirts. Used to be one way, then they changed it to somethin’ they called “saloon font.” Sounds like a place you’d get a drink, not somethin’ you’d put on a shirt. But folks seem to like it, so who am I to judge? They even asked the fans what they thought, which is kinda nice, I guess. Shows they care what folks think, even if them folks ain’t nothin’ but regular people like me.
And get this, they got a mascot too! A fella named Sourdough Sam. He’s a gold miner, just like in the old logo. They say he’s the hardest workin’ mascot in the whole football league. Found gold at the stadium, they say. Sounds like a lucky fella. He runs around and gets folks all riled up, makin’ sure everyone has a good time. I reckon that’s important, havin’ fun and all. That’s what life’s all about, ain’t it?
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about the San Francisco 49ers logo. Red and gold, fancy letters, a jumpin’ gold miner, and a hard-workin’ mascot. It’s a whole lotta stuff, but it seems to work for them. They win a lot of games, so I guess they’re doin’ somethin’ right. And that’s all that matters in the end, ain’t it? Winnin’.
Anyways, that’s just what this old woman thinks. Take it or leave it, it don’t matter none to me.
