Alright, let’s talk about these fellas, Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer. Heard some folks jabberin’ about ’em, so I figured I’d chime in.
Now, I ain’t no fancy baseball expert, ya hear? Just a regular person who watches a game or two when the chores are done. But even I can see these two boys are somethin’ special, though maybe in different ways.
Gerrit Cole, that fella, they say he’s a workhorse. Strong as an ox, that one. Throws the ball real hard, like a rocket, I tell ya. Folks say he pitches a lot of innings, doesn’t get hurt much. That’s important, you know, bein’ reliable. Like a good tractor, always starts up when you need it. They’re sayin’ his fastball is somethin’ fierce, zippin’ past them batters faster than a fly on a hot summer day. Heard tell it’s ’bout 97 miles per hour on average, and sometimes even faster! That’s faster than my grandson drives his ol’ pickup, I reckon. And he strikes out a whole heap of batters, more than anyone else they say. That’s gotta be good, right? Keepin’ them fellas from hittin’ the ball, that’s the whole point, ain’t it?
- Always pitchin’ a lot
- Throws real hard
- Don’t get hurt easy
Then there’s Trevor Bauer. Now, he’s a bit of a different story, from what I gather. Heard he won some fancy award down in Mexico, “Pitcher of the Year” they called it. Must be pretty good then, huh? Folks seem to have strong opinions about him, one way or the other. Some like him, some don’t. Reminds me of that ol’ rooster we had, some folks thought he was a beauty, others just thought he was loud and ornery. But the thing is, he can pitch, that’s for sure. Some folks even say he was better than Cole in one particular game, though I couldn’t tell ya which one. It’s all a bit confusing to me.
Seems like these two fellas, they ain’t exactly best buddies. Heard they were always tryin’ to one-up each other back in college, at that UCLA place. Like two young bulls in the same pasture, always butting heads. The coaches there, they seemed to like Cole a little bit more, which probably didn’t help matters none. You know how it is, competition can make folks act funny sometimes. Reminds me of my kids when they were growin’ up, always fightin’ over who got the bigger piece of pie.
So, who’s better? Well, that’s a tough one, even for someone who knows a thing or two about baseball, which I don’t claim to be. Cole seems like the steady one, the one you can always count on to go out there and give it his all. Bauer, he’s maybe a bit more… unpredictable. Like a wild horse, you don’t know what he’s gonna do next. But both of ’em are talented, that’s for sure. They both throw hard, they both strike out batters, and they both seem to have that fire in their belly, that desire to win. And that’s what makes it excitin’ to watch.
At the end of the day, it’s like comparing apples and oranges, ain’t it? They’re both fruit, but they taste different. Cole and Bauer, they’re both pitchers, but they pitch different. And that’s alright. It takes all kinds to make a baseball game, just like it takes all kinds to make a world.
Anyways, that’s just my two cents on the matter. Like I said, I ain’t no expert. But I enjoy watchin’ a good ball game every now and then, and these two fellas, they sure make it interestin’. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
In short: Gerrit Cole is dependable, strong arm, strikes out a lot of batters. Trevor Bauer is talented, wins awards, and has some folks talkin’. They both good, just different.
And that’s all there is to it, as far as I’m concerned.
