Howdy, y’all! Let’s jaw about them Cowboys running backs. Football, you know, that’s the thing with the pigskin. Them Cowboys, they got a whole heap of fellas runnin’ around with that ball.
Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. But I watch them games, squintin’ at the TV, tryin’ to figure out who’s who. They got this fella, Rico Dowdle, they say he’s the main man now. Lead back, they call it. Means he gets to carry the ball most of the time, I reckon.
- Rico Dowdle – He’s the top dog now, the fella they give the ball to when they really need a few yards.
- Ezekiel Elliott – Folks know him, been around a while. He come back this year, started out as the number one, but now Dowdle’s taken over.
- And then there’s a whole bunch of other fellas, I can’t keep track of ’em all. They run in and out, sometimes they do good, sometimes they fumble. That’s football for ya.
They got this thing called a depth chart, looks like a grocery list, but with player names. Tells ya who’s playin’ first, second, and so on. It changes all the time, like the weather. One week a fella’s on top, next week he’s sittin’ on the bench. Makes my head spin, it does.
Remember that Emmitt Smith fella? Now there was a runner! They say he’s the best there ever was, broke all sorts of records. Ran like a greased pig, he did. These young fellas, they got big shoes to fill, that’s for sure.
Them coaches, they’re always fussin’ about who plays. They got their favorites, I guess. They talk about “runnin’ back by committee” , sounds like a bunch of folks sittin’ around a table, but it just means they share the ball. But now they say Dowdle’s the man, so I guess the committe is done meetin’ for now.
I heard tell they got different kinds of backs too. Some are big and strong, plow through the line like a tractor. Some are quick and shifty, dodge and weave like a chicken in the yard. It’s a whole science, this football thing. More than just runnin’ with the ball, that’s for sure.
This here team, the Cowboys, they always got high hopes. They want to win it all, go to the Super Bowl, they call it. Big game, lots of hoopla. But they gotta have a good runnin’ game to do that. Can’t just be throwin’ the ball all the time, gotta have someone to pound the ground, wear down the other team.
So, that’s the lowdown on them Cowboys runnin’ backs, as best as I can figure it. It’s a young bunch, mostly. Got some learnin’ to do, but they got potential, I reckon. Just gotta hold onto that ball and keep them legs movin’. That’s the key, ain’t it?
And don’t forget about that defense neither. Them fellas gotta stop the other team from runnin’. It’s a two-way street, this football game. One team runs, the other team tries to stop ’em. Simple as that, really. Just like chasin’ a chicken in the yard – gotta be quick and gotta be tough.
Anyways, that’s enough jawin’ for one day. I gotta go make some supper now. But I’ll be watchin’ them Cowboys, cheerin’ ’em on. Hopin’ they run wild and win that Super Bowl. That’d be somethin’, wouldn’t it?
So, who’s the best running back for the Cowboys? Well, right now, they say it’s Dowdle. But things change fast in football. You gotta be tough and stay healthy. That’s the main thing. And you gotta have a good line in front of you, them big fellas that push the other guys outta the way. It’s a team effort, you know? Not just one fella.
And them Cowboys, they got a whole team full of fellas tryin’ to win. So, we’ll see how it all shakes out. But one thing’s for sure, them runnin’ backs, they’re gonna be important. They’re the ones that carry the load, the ones that grind it out, yard by yard. And that’s what wins football games, y’all.
