Well, well, well, look at these two young fellas, Alex Michelsen and Marcos Giron, going at it on the tennis court. I seen a lot of tennis matches in my day, but these two, they got some real fire in ’em. That Alex Michelsen, he’s a young whippersnapper, ain’t he? And Marcos Giron, he’s been around the block a few times. They played on July 21, right? Heard it was in Newport. Fancy place, Newport.
That Alex Michelsen, he’s got a serve like a mule’s kick. Strong, that one. But Marcos Giron, he’s no slouch. He can run like a scared rabbit, getting to every ball. This match, it got me on the edge of my seat, I tell ya. It’s like watching two roosters fighting, all feathers and fury. And you know what they say about roosters, them is the best fighters.
I heard some folks talking ’bout “stats” and “odds.” What’s that all about? All I know is, both these boys can play. They hit that little yellow ball back and forth, back and forth, until one of ’em misses. It’s like watching a Ping-Pong match. Only these guys are much more skilled. This Alex Michelsen and Marcos Giron match, I bet it got the folks in Newport all riled up.
- Alex Michelsen, he’s got the youth.
- Marcos Giron, he’s got the experience.
- They both got the fight.
- July 21 in Newport, that’s the match everyone talk about.
They were supposed to play again in Vienna, Austria, in October. I don’t know how the match went there. These fellas going all over the world. I ain’t never been further than the next county, myself. But I reckon those folks in Vienna know a good tennis match when they see one, just like us.
That Marcos Giron, he won that first match, I heard. Took three sets, it did. What’s a set? It’s like, first one to win a certain number of games. Like winnin’ a hand of cards. This tennis, it’s got its own way of keepin’ score. It is a bit confusing sometimes, ain’t it?
Now, I remember watching these fellas on the TV. They were running, and jumping and grunting. I swear, sometimes I thought that Marcos Giron was going to jump right out of the TV and land in my living room. All that hustle, all that sweat! These fellas work harder than a one-legged cat in a sandbox, ain’t they?
These young folks and their sports! Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy tennis courts and equipment. We just played with what we had. But these two, Alex Michelsen and Marcos Giron, they’re like artists, they way they move around that court.
I don’t know much about this “head to head” thing they talk about. Sounds like two goats buttin’ heads. But I guess it means how many times they played each other before. Like keepin’ track of who won more marbles. Well, I don’t care who is winning how many times. The match is exciting. That’s the main point.
And all this talk about “predictions.” Who can predict what these young folks will do? They’re like wild horses, full of energy and spirit. You can’t predict a wild horse, can you? No, sir. All I know that Marcos Giron won that match in Newport, and he beat that young Alex Michelsen good.
- Newport is a fancy place.
- Vienna is far away.
- Tennis is a hard game.
- Marcos Giron won in Newport.
- Alex Michelsen is a strong young man.
Anyway, that match between Alex Michelsen and Marcos Giron, it was a good one. Kept me entertained for a good while. And I guess that is all that matters, ain’t it? These two, they’re good for the sport. They bring the excitement. And that’s what folks want to see, ain’t it? A good show. And that’s what these two fellas gave us. They put on a heck of a show in Newport. I’ll tell you that much. These fellas are tough like corncobs.
I’m sure they will play again sometime. And when they do, I’ll be watching. I’ll be right there, glued to the TV, cheering ’em on. It don’t matter to me who wins or loses. As long as they play hard and give it their all. That’s all that matters. It’s fun watching these fellas. Alex Michelsen and Marcos Giron, they’re alright in my book. They’re alright.
