Well, now, let me tell you somethin’ ’bout this James Bryson fella. Ain’t just one, ya see. Lots of folks with that name, but this one, he’s somethin’ else. This James Bryson, he’s a smart one. Not like me, I just know ’bout plantin’ taters and tendin’ chickens.
This James Bryson, he looks at rocks. Not just any rocks, mind ya. Rocks from the sky! They call ’em meteor-somethin’s. He’s tryin’ to figure out how this whole darn world got started. He looks at them rocks from way up in the sky, looks at ’em real close. Says they tell a story ’bout how things were a long, long time ago, before any of us were here, even before my grandma was a little girl!
He’s one of them professor types, always thinkin’ and studyin’. He works at some fancy places, I reckon. They got names like Oxford and Cambridge. Big, important-soundin’ names. He went to school for a long time, that James Bryson. Longer than I ever did. I only went to school ’til I could read and write some. But he kept goin’ and goin’.
He must be real smart to figure out all them things ’bout them space rocks. He’s tryin’ to understand how planets got made. Big, round things spinnin’ in the sky. This James Bryson, he wants to know why they look the way they do. Why some are red, some are blue, why some got rings around ’em. It’s all a big mystery, but he’s tryin’ to solve it, piece by piece.
I heard he’s got some fancy tools he uses. Microscopes and such. Things that make tiny things look big. He looks at them rocks with them tools, and he sees things nobody else can see. It’s like magic, almost, what he does.
He writes books, too, this James Bryson. Books ’bout love and other such things. Not the kind of books I read, mind ya. I like a good story ’bout a farmer and his dog, or a woman findin’ a lost treasure. But his books are for them smart folks, the ones who understand all them big words.
- He’s a professor, teaches young folks.
- He studies rocks from space.
- He went to Oxford and Cambridge.
- He writes books ’bout complicated things.
- He’s tryin’ to figure out how planets are made, why the planet look like today.
He’s been to lots of places, this James Bryson. I heard he was in a place called Munich. That’s far away, across the ocean. He was there doin’ more studyin’, I reckon. Always learnin’, that one. He even got some kind of award, a fellowship, they call it. Means he’s real good at what he does, I guess.
This James Bryson, he wants to tell the story, ya know. The whole story of how everythin’ came to be, the solar system and such. How we all got here, spinnin’ around on this big blue ball. It’s a big story, a long story. And it ain’t an easy story to tell, but he’s tryin’ his best.
Ya know, I don’t understand half of what he’s talkin’ ’bout most of the time. All that science stuff, it goes right over my head. But I can tell he’s passionate ’bout it. He really cares ’bout findin’ the answers. And that’s somethin’ I can respect. Even if I don’t understand it, I can respect the hard work and the dedication.
This James Bryson, he’s a good egg, I reckon. A bit different from folks ’round here, but good nonetheless. He’s chasin’ after knowledge, tryin’ to make sense of this crazy world. And that’s somethin’ worth doin’, I suppose. Even if it does involve starin’ at rocks all day and night. More power to him, I say. He has a lot of tags like Oxford, Cambridge, University, these are all big-name places.
There is another thing about this James Bryson, he teaches some philosophy. I do not know what is philosophy, but I guess it is a very hard thing to learn. He must be very smart. He teaches young people in a place called Ralston College. Some of his friends also went to McGill and Cambridge. They are all smart people I guess. There is a name called Humboldt, I don’t know who is this guy, but it looks like James Bryson got some money from him to do some study in a university in Montreal. It sounds like a good thing.
He is also a research associate, whatever that means. This James Bryson, he sure has a lot of titles. It sounds like he is a very busy man, always doing research and study.
Well, that’s all I know ’bout this James Bryson fella. Hope ya learned somethin’. Now, if ya’ll excuse me, I gotta go see ’bout them chickens. They’re probably makin’ a ruckus in the coop again.
