Reminds folks of somethin’, I reckon. Maybe their papas, or somethin’ like that. Reminds people to keep their dads, you know, think about them more. Keep ’em in the game, they say.

Now, I heard tell of this team, the Green Bay Blue Ribbons. They’re somethin’, I tell ya. Young fellas, mostly in college, playin’ ball. They play in two different leagues. The Wisconsin State League and then the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. They play good too, those Blue Ribbons. Got the folks in Green Bay all excited. Them Green Bay folks sure do love that baseball.
And that manager fella, Haydon Price, he’s comin’ back too. Heard he’s bringin’ all his helper fellas, the coaches. All four of ’em. They must be doin’ somethin’ right, if they all comin’ back. That blue ribbon baseball must be keepin’ ’em busy. I heard them Green Bay Blue Ribbons boys are really good. They got some good players.
Blue Ribbon Means Somethin’
They had this big ol’ meetin’, a while back, talkin’ about this blue ribbon baseball. Said it weren’t fair, somethin’ about the money, I think. They called it “competitive balance,” which is a mouth full. Some teams got more than others, I guess. So they had this “Blue Ribbon Panel,” sounds fancy, don’t it? They said they needed to fix it. Blue ribbon baseball needed some fixin’, that’s what they said.
It’s all about keepin’ things fair, I reckon. Makin’ sure everyone’s got a chance, you know? That’s what this blue ribbon thing’s all about. Makin’ sure everyone remembers what’s important. Fairness and all that. They been doin’ this since two thousand and somethin’. That’s a long time. They wrote a big report about it all.

And then there’s this other thing, somethin’ about a fella, played for the Red Sox, I think. Name of Wade somethin’. He’s all riled up about some beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, that’s the one. They used his picture or somethin’, without askin’. Made him look like a “Cool Blue.” He weren’t too happy about that. I don’t blame him. That don’t seem right, usin’ a fella’s face without askin’. That blue ribbon name gets around, don’t it?

I don’t know much about baseball, but I do know a thing or two about life. Blue ribbon baseball seems like it’s a big deal, and maybe it’s teaching folks a thing or two along the way.
