This here’s about that University of Utah football team, you know, the Utes. They got a whole bunch of fellas playin’, and I’m gonna try to tell you who’s who and what’s what. Quarterbacks and Such
First off, you got your quarterback. That Cam Rising, he’s the big cheese, the main man. He’s number 7. But if he gets a boo-boo, that Brandon Rose, number 10, he’s ready to jump in. Then there’s the number 19 boy, and the number 12 boy. They are good boys. But maybe those two boys needs to practice more to get them on the field.
Then you got them runnin’ backs. That Ja’Quinden Jackson, number 3, he’s a strong one. He can run fast. Behind him, you got that Jaylon Glover, number 8. And then some other fellas, number 22, number 25, number 28. They all wanna carry that ball. These boys is strong. They like to run over people. I like that.
Them Big Boys Up Front
Now, you gotta have them big ol’ boys up front, the ones who clear the way. They call ’em the offensive line. You got your left tackle, that’s like the quarterback’s bodyguard. Then you got your left guard, your center, your right guard, and your right tackle. It’s like a big wall of meat, protectin’ that quarterback and makin’ holes for them runnin’ backs.
- Left Tackle: That Zereoue Williams, number 72. He’s a big one. That number 71 boy, he is also big.
- Left Guard: Kolinu’u Faaiu, number 56, and Michael Mokofisi, number 51. Those are big, strong boys.
- Center: That Koli Faaiu, number 56 again. He’s the one snappin’ that ball. He is an important boy, because nothing starts until he hikes the ball.
- Right Guard: Number 66, and number 74. I tell ya, these boys is big as houses.
- Right Tackle: Number 77, and number 78. Those boys got some long arms.
Catchin’ and Throwin’
Then you got them fellas who catch the ball. They call ’em wide receivers and tight ends. Those tight ends, they’re kinda like a mix between a receiver and one of them big linemen. They can catch, but they can also block.
- Wide Receiver X: Number 17, that’s Devaughn Vele, and that number 2 boy. They run fast and catch good.
- Wide Receiver Z: Number 9, Mikey Matthews. That boy can fly! Number 15 can too.
- Wide Receiver R: Number 0, Money Parks. That’s a funny name, ain’t it? But he is good. And that number 1 boy.
- Tight End: Number 86, and number 80, and number 83, and number 88. All these boys can catch, and they can block. They is a big help to the team.
The Other Side of the Ball
Now, that’s the offense. Then you got the defense. They’re the ones tryin’ to stop the other team from scorin’.
You got your defensive line, they’re like the first line of defense. Then you got your linebackers, they’re kinda like the quarterbacks of the defense. And then you got your defensive backs, they’re the last line of defense, tryin’ to stop them long passes.
Them Stoppers
Them defensive linemen, they’re big too. You got your defensive tackles and your defensive ends. They’re tryin’ to get to that quarterback and stop them runnin’ backs.
- Defensive Tackle: Number 91, and number 99, and number 96. They’re like a wall. That number 99, he is a big boy.
- Defensive End: Number 42, and number 8, and number 49. They try to go around the other teams line.
Then you got them linebackers, like I said. They’re all over the field, tacklin’ and tryin’ to figure out what the other team’s gonna do.
- Linebacker: Number 34, that’s Karene Reid, and number 10. Them boys is quick. They hit hard.
- Rover: That’s like a special kind of linebacker. Number 13, and number 5. They hit hard too. These boys like to run around and make plays.
And then them defensive backs. You got your cornerbacks and your safeties. They’re tryin’ to stop them passes and make interceptions, you know, steal the ball from the other team.
- Cornerback: Number 6, and number 23, and number 3. They gotta be fast to keep up with them receivers.
- Safety: Number 9, and number 1. Those boys patrol the deep part of the field. And that number 0 boy.
The Kicker and Punter
Oh, and you can’t forget about the kicker! Number 38, that Joey Cheek. He can kick that ball a mile! And then you got your punter, he’s the one who kicks it when they can’t make a first down. Number 39, Jack Bouwmeester. He’s important too.
So, there you have it. That’s the University of Utah football depth chart. It’s a lot of fellas, all workin’ together to win them games. It’s a tough game, football. You gotta be strong and fast and smart. These Utes, they’re a good bunch. They work hard. They will win some games. You just watch and see.
