Well, let me tell you about this Joe Mauer fella in that MLB The Show game. My grandson, he’s always playin’ it on that fancy machine of his. Says it’s all the rage these days.
That Joe Mauer Boy
So, this Joe Mauer, he’s some kinda big shot baseball player, I reckon. My grandson, he goes on and on about him. “Grandma, you gotta see this Joe Mauer card I got!” he says. I don’t know nothin’ about cards, but if it makes him happy, it’s alright by me.
Seems like this Joe Mauer was in the MLB The Show game a few times. There’s MLB The Show 24, and there was MLB The Show 23, and I think he even said somethin’ about MLB The Show 22. It is all just numbers to me. He’s been in the game more times than I’ve been to the grocery store this month!
- MLB The Show 24
- MLB The Show 23
- MLB The Show 22
They got all these fancy words for his numbers in the game. He talked about somethin’ called “attributes” and “quirks.” Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me, but the boy seems to know what he’s talkin’ about. He says this Joe Mauer is a “Hall of Fame” somethin’ or other. That must be pretty good. Must be like winnin’ the blue ribbon at the county fair, I imagine.
Diamond Dynasty and Other Gibberish
My grandson tried to explain this other thing to me once. “Diamond Dynasty,” he called it. Some part of MLB The Show 23, I guess. Sounds like somethin’ them fancy city folk would come up with. He was talkin’ about collectin’ players like they were them little porcelain dolls my neighbor collects. Only these players are in that video game, and you gotta get their “cards.”
And then there’s this “2nd Half Heroes Joe Mauer.” What in tarnation is a “2nd Half Hero”? Sounds like some kind of superhero, like them ones in the funny papers. I guess it means he’s good in the second half of somethin’. Like me, I’m always better after I’ve had my afternoon nap.
They give him these “rankings” too. Like he’s in some kinda contest. Number 1, number 2, I don’t know. He’s always tryin’ to get the best Joe Mauer card he can. He says there’s somethin’ called a “Rookie Joe Mauer” too. So I guess they got him when he was just a young’un, startin’ out. Reminds me of my youngest, always dreamin’ big.
Hittin’ and Runnin’
He says this Joe Mauer is real good at hittin’ the ball. “Hittin’ Attributes” is what he calls it. I reckon that’s important in baseball. You gotta hit the ball if you wanna score, right? I remember playin’ a little baseball myself when I was a girl. Wasn’t very good at it, but it was fun.
My grandson was showin’ me the game on the screen one time, and I saw this Joe Mauer fella swingin’ the bat. He sure did whack that ball good! Sent it flyin’ way out there. I guess that’s why they pay him the big bucks, huh?
That’s All I Know About Joe
Anyways, this MLB The Show game is popular. It’s all about baseball, like them old-time radio broadcasts, only you get to see it all happen on the screen, in the game, not on the field. It’s got people talkin’. Even on that internet thing, there’s a whole place just to talk about MLB The Show. The boy showed me, it’s called “The Show”. He spends more time there than he does in church, I tell ya.
And that’s about all I know about this Joe Mauer MLB The Show business. It’s a lot of numbers and fancy words, but it makes my grandson happy. And if he’s happy, I’m happy. That’s all that really matters, ain’t it?
It’s all beyond me.
He was saying something about this Joe Mauer and another fella named Justin Morneau being “Legends” in MLB The Show 22. Imagine that, being a legend in a video game! And then he said you can find a Joe Mauer in some “Cover Athlete Choice Pack.” Now, what in the world is a “Cover Athlete Choice Pack”? Sounds like a mouthful of marbles to me. He keeps sayin’ “MLB The Show” this and “MLB The Show” that. It’s all a bit much for an old gal like me. But, like I said, if it makes the boy happy, then that’s just fine. He sure does love that MLB The Show game and that Joe Mauer fella.
I guess he was a real good player, this Joe Mauer. Played for 15 years, my grandson said. That’s a long time to be doin’ anything, let alone playin’ a game. Must have been somethin’ special to be put in that MLB The Show game all those times. And they picked him first in something called the “MLB Draft” back in 2001. That’s a long time ago. I was still growin’ my own tomatoes back then. Anyways, I reckon that’s all I got to say about Joe Mauer and MLB The Show. My bones are tired, and I need to rest my eyes.
