Okay, so I saw this thing online about Rose Namajunas and her long hair, and I thought, “Hey, I wanna try that!” I’ve always had kinda short hair, you know, practical stuff. But Rose, man, she rocks both the shaved head and the long hair. Total badass either way.
Getting Started (aka The Awkward Phase)
First things first, I had to, uh, grow my hair. This was not instant, let me tell you. My hair was at that super annoying in-between stage for, like, forever. It poked out in weird places, and I used a ton of bobby pins.
- Phase 1: The “just past my ears” phase. Lots of headbands. Lots.
- Phase 2: The “ponytail nub”. It was barely a ponytail, more like a… sprout.
- Phase 3: The “okay, it’s actually getting somewhere” phase. I could finally do a real, actual ponytail!
The Hair Care Routine (It’s a Thing Now)
When my hair was short, I just used whatever shampoo was on sale. Now? Oh boy. I had to figure out this whole “hair care” thing.
I started washing it less, like every other day or even every two days. Sounds gross, I know, but it actually helped! My hair wasn’t as dry and frizzy. I found this conditioner, I am not good at brands name, but I think it did help a lot. I leave it in for a few minutes while I do other shower stuff, and it makes my hair all soft and, you know, not like straw.
I also learned about this “leave-in conditioner” stuff. Who knew? It’s like a little extra boost of moisture, and it helps with tangles. (Long hair tangles. A lot.)
Styling (aka The Fun Part… Sometimes)
Now that I actually have long hair, I can, like, do things with it! I’m still not great at braids, but I can do a decent ponytail, and sometimes I even wear it down. It’s kinda cool to have options.
I tried to copy some of Rose’s styles, but honestly, she’s a pro. I’m just a regular person with slightly more hair than before. But hey, it’s fun to experiment!
I learned one of the simple way to make my hair like hers. I washed my hair before I sleep, and then made a simple braid of it, then sleep with it, and in the morning, open the braid and volia, a wavy hair ready to go.
The Verdict
So, is long hair for me? I’m still figuring it out. It’s definitely more work than short hair, but it’s also kinda fun. I feel a little bit like a different person, you know? A little more… I don’t know… fierce? Maybe?
Would I recommend it? Sure, why not? Just be prepared for the awkward phase. And the bobby pins. So many bobby pins.
