Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a new puppy, a real fluffy one, maybe a Samoyed or a Shiba Inu. The big thing, though, is the name. I want something cool, something that stands out, and I’ve always been a sucker for mythology. That’s where “Amon Ra” popped into my head.

First, I googled Amon Ra, just to double-check my memory. Yep, he’s the Egyptian god of the sun and air, pretty major dude. Combining “Amun” (the hidden one) and “Ra” (the sun), that’s some powerful imagery right there. I imagined yelling “Amon Ra, come!” at the dog park and everyone being like, “Whoa.”
Then I got practical. How would “Amon Ra” actually sound? I started saying it out loud, trying different tones. “Amon Ra! Good boy!” “Amon Ra, no biting!” It flowed pretty well. Not too clunky, not too hard to yell across a field.
Thinking about alternatives
- I thought about just “Ra,” but that felt a bit short, maybe too abrupt.
- “Amon” on its own? Kinda cool, but I liked the full impact of both names together.
Next, I imagined the dog. What if it was a little, yappy thing? Would “Amon Ra” fit a tiny Pomeranian? I chuckled a bit at that. I decided that the name would probably work best with a medium-to-large dog, something with a bit of presence, you know? A Golden Retriever, maybe even a German Shepherd. A regal name for a dog.
I even practiced writing the name down, like I was filling out vet forms or something. “Amon Ra [My Last Name].” Looked pretty official! I also did search on social media to see that name unique or not.
So, yeah, “Amon Ra” is currently topping my list. It’s got that mythological weight, it sounds good, and it feels like a name that would make people smile (and maybe ask a few questions). Now, I just need to actually get the dog!
