Okay, so I finally decided to dive into the world of Animal Crossing Amiibo cards. I’ve been playing New Horizons for a while now, and I really wanted to get some of my dream villagers without having to spend hours and hours island hopping. It seemed like Amiibo cards were the way to go, so I started doing some digging.

Figuring Out the Basics
First, I needed to figure out what I even needed. I found out that you basically just need the cards themselves and either a Nintendo Switch, a Nintendo Switch Lite, or a New Nintendo 3DS. I have a Switch, so I was good to go there. Then came the slightly trickier part: actually getting the cards.
Getting My Hands on the Cards
Man, these things can be hard to find sometimes! I checked a bunch of different stores, both online and in person. It seemed like a lot of places were either sold out or the prices were seriously jacked up. I guess they’re pretty popular. I did find a few packs. Scored!
Using the Cards – Finally!
Alright, so I had the cards, now I had to figure out how to actually use them. I’d heard it was pretty simple, but I wanted to make sure I did it right. I remembered I’d seen something about using them at the Nook Stop terminal in Resident Services, so that’s where I headed.
Once I got to the terminal, I found the “Invite Amiibo Camper” option. I tapped that, and the game told me to hold a card to the NFC touchpoint. On the Switch, that’s on the right Joy-Con stick. I held one of my new cards there, and boom! The game recognized the villager on the card!
Inviting My Dream Villager
The game then walked me through the process of inviting the villager to my campsite. I had to do this for three days in a row, and I had to craft a specific item for them each day. It wasn’t too bad, mostly just gathering materials and doing a little crafting.

On the third day, after I gave them the item, I could finally ask them to move to my island! Sweet victory! It took a little time to get a plot prepared, because the villagers need some empty plots to be able to be invited in.
And that’s it! Now I have some new villagers on my island. And I didn’t lost my mind doing the island tours!
