Alright, so I wanted to mess around with creating a wrestling roster, specifically for the AWA, because, you know, nostalgia. I’ve been watching some old matches, and it got me thinking, “Could I put together a decent list myself?” So, I dove in.

First, I brainstormed. Just started listing names that popped into my head. You got your obvious ones like:
- Hulk Hogan
- Verne Gagne
- Nick Bockwinkel
- The Crusher
- Dick the Bruiser
Gotta have those guys, right? They’re, like, the foundation. I have listed some others. You know, the guys who might not be the biggest names, but were always solid in the ring. I also considered some wrestlers who work with AWA.
Then I hit the internet. Started searching for “AWA wrestlers,” “AWA champions,” anything that might give me some more names. I found a couple of pretty good fan sites and forums with lists of wrestlers.
Then, after doing some research I decided to see if I could find more details about each wrestler like:
- Years active in AWA
- Major feuds
- Championships held
It was a bit of a rabbit hole, to be honest. One name would lead to another, and then I’d be off reading about some feud from 1972. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right?

After I felt like I had a good, solid list – probably, like, 30-40 names – I started organizing them. My idea was to create my own version of wrestling roster page.
It’s still a work in progress, it is not perfect, and maybe I’ll add more details later. But for now, I’ve got a pretty cool list of AWA wrestlers, and it was a blast putting it together. It really makes you appreciate how much talent passed through that promotion back in the day.
