Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… “bacot nil deal” thing. I ain’t no fancy college professor or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I heard.
So, there’s this fella, Bacot, plays basketball, real good I guess. Folks are sayin’ he made a whole lotta money, like, two million dollars! Can you believe that? Two million! For playin’ ball! Back in my day, you played ball for fun, maybe got a soda afterwards. Now they gettin’ rich!
They call it “NIL.” I dunno what that means exactly, but it sounds like these kids get paid for their name and face and stuff. Like, if they famous, they get money. This Bacot fella, he must be pretty famous then. Two million dollars famous, that’s what he is.
- They say he talked about it on some podcast. Podcast, that’s like radio but on the internet, I think. He was on there with some other fellas, talkin’ ’bout how much money he made. Said it humble-like, but two million ain’t exactly humble, is it?
- Then there’s this other fella, Davis. He ain’t gettin’ as much as Bacot, but still, 625,000 dollars! That’s more money than most folks see in a lifetime. He’s ranked high, number four or somethin’. These young’uns are makin’ bank!
And it ain’t just them. There’s this other boy, Bronny James, made almost six million! Six million! That’s enough to buy a whole town, I reckon. His daddy must be real proud, and probably helped him get all that money, I bet. It’s all ’cause they’re good at sports and folks know their names.
They got people figurin’ out how much these kids are worth. Like, they look at how good they play, how many folks know ’em, and then they say, “Okay, this one’s worth this much, that one’s worth that much.” It’s like they’re sellin’ cows at the market, but instead of cows, it’s kids and their names.
This Bacot fella, he played for North Carolina, that’s a college team. Now he’s goin’ to the NBA, that’s the big leagues. He didn’t get drafted right away, though. Had to sign some kinda short contract, like a tryout, I guess. But even if he don’t make it big in the NBA, he’s already got that two million. He’s set, probably buyin’ himself a fancy house and a fast car. Good for him, I guess, but it’s still a whole lotta money for playin’ a game.
It’s a different world now, that’s for sure. Kids gettin’ rich off playin’ games, talkin’ on podcasts, and havin’ their faces plastered everywhere. I don’t rightly understand it all, but it seems like if you’re good at somethin’ and folks know your name, you can make a whole lotta money. This Bacot fella, he’s livin’ proof of that.
And all this money, it changes things. Changes how these kids play, changes what they care about, maybe even changes who they are. I hope they don’t forget where they came from, don’t forget the folks who helped ’em along the way. ‘Cause money ain’t everything, you know. It can’t buy you happiness, or good health, or a good family. But it sure can buy you a whole lot of other things, that’s for sure.
Anyways, that’s what I know about this “bacot nil deal.” A whole lotta money for playin’ ball. Crazy world, ain’t it?
