Okay, so I’ve been on this whole retro jersey kick lately, specifically with Atlanta teams. You know, those old-school designs that just hit different. I decided to dive deep and build up a little collection of Atlanta throwback jerseys. It started as a “maybe I’ll grab one or two” thing, but, well, you know how it goes.
First Steps
First off, I hit up the usual spots online. I spent hours browsing, just trying to get a feel for what was out there. I was really looking for those classic Hawks, Braves, and Falcons designs. I found a bunch of different options. It was kinda overwhelming, to be honest.
Narrowing It Down
I decided to focus on the Hawks first, mainly because their old-school “Pac-Man” logo is just iconic. I wanted to find a Dominique Wilkins jersey from the ’86 season – that was the dream. I scoured through every listing, read through all those descriptions, and compared prices. Finally, I found one that looked legit and was in pretty good condition.
Branching Out
After scoring that Wilkins jersey, I got the itch to expand. I started looking into Braves jerseys next. I was looking for a Hank Aaron one. I ended up finding one that was in great condition. I pulled the trigger on it without even thinking.
The Falcons Search
The Falcons were a bit trickier. So many different eras and designs to choose from! I was initially thinking about a classic red helmet, black jersey Deion Sanders, but then I stumbled upon a Steve Bartkowski jersey from the ’70s, and I just had to have it. The old-school look is just too cool.
Building the Collection
So, after weeks of searching and a few impulse buys, I’ve got a decent little collection going. I wear them all the time, especially during game days. Each jersey has its own story, its own vibe.
- Hawks: Dominique Wilkins, ’86 season – my prized possession.
- Braves: Hank Aaron, ’74 season – a classic, always gets compliments.
- Falcons: Steve Bartkowski, late ’70s – a unique piece, love the retro look.
It’s been a fun little journey, and I’m definitely not done yet. I’m still on the lookout for a few more pieces to add to the collection. If anyone else is into collecting Atlanta throwback jerseys, give me a shout! I’d love to see what you have.
