Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “EA Sports College Football 25” game, and let me tell you, the coach backstory thing is way more involved than I thought it would be. At first, I was like, “Yeah, whatever, I just wanna get to the games,” but then I realized this stuff actually matters.
So, when you start, you gotta pick your role, right? You can be the Head Coach, the Offensive Coordinator, or the Defensive Coordinator. I went with Head Coach because, you know, I like to be the boss.
- Head Coach – You’re basically in charge of everything. Play calling, recruiting, the whole shebang. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also the most rewarding.
- Offensive Coordinator – You handle the offense. This is good if you’re into creating plays and scoring points.
- Defensive Coordinator – You’re all about stopping the other team. If you like making life difficult for the opposing offense, this is for you.
After choosing what I want to be, there was another choice, the most important one, choose the backstory. I just chose one of them randomly, not knowing that each of them offered some benefit, there are many backstories to pick, and it depends on what you really like.
Anyway, I started with a brand new, level 1 coach. It’s kinda cool because you feel like you’re really building something from the ground up. You gotta make all these decisions about your coaching style and your team’s philosophy, and it all affects how your team plays.
I spent hours just setting up my coach and figuring out what kind of team I wanted to build. It’s crazy how much detail they put into this game. Honestly, I haven’t even played that many actual football games yet because I’m so caught up in all the other stuff.
It’s a Long Road
I heard some people online talking about how they always start their custom coaches at level 1. It makes sense, I guess. It’s like you’re really earning your way to the top. And with “College Football 25” finally coming back after all these years, everyone’s excited to see how deep this dynasty mode really is. I had to create everything from scratch, I wanted to make it feel like I earned everything, not just select everything easily from the beginning, I needed to feel that I deserved it.
I’m still figuring it all out, but it’s been a blast so far. If you’re thinking about picking up this game, just be prepared to lose a lot of hours to it. It’s way more than just a football game.
