Okay, so “smoking golf” – sounds weird, right? Let me tell you about my little experiment today. I’ve been trying to combine two completely unrelated things to see if it sparks any creativity, you know, gets the juices flowing.

First, I grabbed my old golf clubs. Haven’t used them in ages. They were gathering dust in the garage. I dusted them off, felt the grip, remembered those sunny days on the course. I set up a little practice area in my backyard – just a bucket and some old, beat-up balls. No fancy setup here, just the basics.
My Swing and Smoke Session
- Warmed up with some easy swings. Man, was I rusty! The first few went way off to the left. I could practically hear my old golf buddy, Dave, laughing at me.
- Then, I decided to add the “smoking” part. Not cigarettes, mind you! I fired up my little tabletop smoker – the one I usually use for cheese and stuff. I put some applewood chips in it, got it smoking nicely.
- The idea was to, well, kind of smoke the golf balls. I know, sounds nuts. I held a few balls in the smoke for a couple of minutes each. They smelled amazing, like a barbecue.
- I lined up a smoked ball, took a swing… and honestly, it felt… different. Maybe it was the smell, maybe it was just the weirdness of it all, but my swing felt a bit smoother, a bit more relaxed.
I kept alternating – regular ball, smoked ball, regular ball, smoked ball. I even tried closing my eyes and just focusing on the smell while I swung. It was kind of meditative, in a really goofy way.
Did the smoked balls fly further? Not really. Did they magically fix my slice? Nope. But did it make the whole experience more interesting and fun? Absolutely! It broke me out of my usual routine, made me think differently, and got me laughing at myself. And that’s what I was going for, trying to unlock something.
So, there you have it – my “smoking golf” experiment. Totally silly, maybe a little bit productive, and definitely a good story to tell. Might try it again with hickory chips next time… who knows what will happen!
