Okay, so today I tried to do something called “kim doig”. Honestly, I had never heard of it before, but I saw it trending and thought, “Why not?” So here’s how it all went down.

The Start: What is this thing?
First, I Googled it. Just typed in “kim doig” to see what would pop up. Seemed like some kind of image processing or artwork thing. I got a bunch of really cool-looking, colorful pictures. I figured I’d try to make something similar.
Getting the Tools Ready
Since I’m not much of an artist, I decided to look for some online tools or apps. I found some websites that mentioned using filters and effects, so I opened a few of those. I also downloaded a couple of free photo editing apps on my phone, just in case.
Experiment Time!
I picked a random photo from my phone – a picture of my cat, because why not? I uploaded it to one of the websites. Then, it was time to play around.
- I started by messing with the basic stuff: brightness, contrast, saturation.
- Then I went for the more advanced filters. There were so many! I clicked on a bunch of them randomly, just to see what would happen.
- Some of them made my cat look like an alien, others made him look like a watercolor painting. It was pretty funny.
Getting that “Kim Doig” Look (I think?)
I noticed that a lot of the “kim doig” images online had this dreamy, kinda blurry look, with really intense colors. So I tried to replicate that. I boosted the saturation way up, played with the blur settings, and added some kind of “glow” effect.
I kept tweaking things, going back and forth between different filters and settings. It was a lot of trial and error, honestly.

The Final Result
After about an hour of messing around, I ended up with something that looked…interesting. Did it look exactly like the “kim doig” images I saw online? Not really. But it was definitely colorful and weird, and my cat looked pretty cool, so I was happy with it.
My Thoughts
This was a fun little experiment. I still don’t fully understand what “kim doig” is, but I had a good time trying to figure it out. It’s cool how you can take a normal photo and turn it into something completely different with just a few clicks and some experimenting.
I’ll probably try this again with some other photos and see what happens. Maybe I’ll even get better at it!
