Okay, so the other day, my friend and I decided to do a gender reveal for her baby, and we went with the tennis ball idea. It seemed pretty straightforward, you know? But let me tell you, it was a bit of an adventure!

Getting Started
First, we ordered a couple of those gender reveal tennis balls online. You gotta make sure they’re the right ones, filled with the colored powder – pink or blue, obviously. We also grabbed some extra regular tennis balls, just in case we messed up. Practice makes perfect, right?
The Practice Swings
We headed out to a local park with a tennis racket. My friend’s husband, the dad-to-be, he’s the one who was gonna hit the ball. He took a few practice swings with the regular balls. Good thing he did, because his first few attempts were… well, let’s just say he wasn’t exactly hitting them out of the park.
- Swing 1: Total whiff.
- Swing 2: Hit the ground before the ball.
- Swing 3: Finally made contact, but the ball went sideways!
The Big Moment (Attempt 1)
We loaded up one of the powder-filled balls. Everyone gathered around, phones out, ready to record. He swung… and barely grazed the ball. A tiny puff of blue came out, but it wasn’t the big explosion we were hoping for. Kind of anticlimactic, to be honest.
The Big Moment (Attempt 2 – Success!)
We decided to try again. This time, he really focused. He took a deep breath, lined up his shot, and SMASHED it! The ball exploded in a HUGE cloud of bright blue powder! Everyone cheered, it was awesome! We finally got our perfect gender reveal moment.
It’s a boy!

Clean Up
After all the excitement, we had to clean up. The powder gets everywhere, so we spent a good 20 minutes sweeping and wiping down the area. It was a bit messy, but totally worth it.
So, that’s my tennis ball gender reveal story. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely memorable. And hey, we got some good laughs out of it, plus a fantastic video of that final, glorious, blue explosion!
