Today I was playing Baldur’s Gate 3, and suddenly, bam! The whole UI just vanished. No health bars, no minimap, nothing. It was like playing blindfolded. I was in the middle of a pretty intense battle, so you can imagine my frustration.

First, I tried clicking around randomly, hoping to hit some invisible button that would bring everything back. No luck there. Then, I thought, maybe it’s a weird combat thing, but nope, the battle ended, and still no UI.
So, I figured I should try talking to someone. I clicked on one of my party members, and, what do you know, the dialogue screen popped up! After a brief chat, I exited the conversation, and boom! Everything was back to normal. The UI, the HUD, it was all there.
Then it hit me. I had accidentally pressed some keyboard shortcut. After a bit of digging, I found out that if you press Ctrl + Shift + C, it toggles the UI on and off. I must have fat-fingered it during the game. To fix it, all I had to do was press Ctrl + Shift + C again, and everything reappeared. Simple as that.
But it got me thinking, what if it’s not a shortcut issue? I’ve heard people talking about DirectX errors or something. I’m not really a tech guy, but I did see some folks mentioning deleting some Larian folder in AppData or messing with Steam settings. I even saw something about setting the game’s priority to ‘High’ or ‘Realtime’ in the Task Manager. Sounds complicated.
- I also read about mod-related stuff. Like, enabling achievements with mods or using some BG3 modders multitool.
- And, get this, there’s even a mod that lets you use 2B’s weapons from Nier: Automata!
I love this game, I mean who doesn’t want an interactive map with all the waypoints, keys, and secret items? But seriously, Larian Studios did an amazing job with this game. It’s like the best D&D RPG ever, and guess what? They’re not making any sequels or DLCs. Project Gustav, as they called it, is done and dusted.

Anyway, if your UI ever disappears in Baldur’s Gate 3, try talking to someone first. If that doesn’t work, check if you accidentally hit Ctrl + Shift + C. And if it’s something more serious, well, maybe those tech forums have the answers.
