So, I was fiddling around with this “MLB The Show 23” game, right? And there’s this whole thing about catcher signs that I figured I’d share my little adventure with.
First off, I jumped into a game, you know, just to mess around. I started as a pitcher because, why not? And I noticed the catcher was doing these little hand signals.
- At first, I thought, “What’s this dude doing?” It’s all super subtle.
- Then it hit me, he’s calling the pitches!
I did some digging around, and apparently, this has been a thing in baseball for ages. But in the game, it’s kinda hard to catch at first.
So, I went into the settings menu.
- I’m clicking around like a madman, trying to find something related to this.
- There’s a bunch of options, but nothing that screams “catcher signs.”
Then I found it, under “Display” settings, there was an option called “Fielding aids.”
- I toggled that on, and bingo!
- There it was, another option, “CPU Pitch Suggestion.”
I turned that on too, and went back into the game.
- Now, when I’m pitching, there’s this little icon that shows up.
- It tells me what pitch the catcher’s suggesting and where to aim it.
- It’s like having a little cheat sheet right there on the screen!
I played a few games with this setting on, and it’s a game-changer.
- I’m nailing those pitches, striking out batters left and right.
- It felt great. It’s way easier to follow along with what the catcher wants.
And there was this other thing I found out. Apparently, not just catchers can use this thing called “PitchCom” to call pitches. I guess they started doing that in real baseball in 2022. Technology, huh?
But in the game, if you don’t use these visual cues, it’s a guessing game.
- One finger means X, two fingers mean Circle, and so on.
- I tried playing without the hints for a bit, and man, it’s tough!
