Alright, so I’ve been messing around with my fantasy football team again, and this time I was stuck between two awesome wide receivers: Chris Olave and Jaylen Waddle. Figured I’d document my thought process and what I ended up doing.

First, I started by looking at the basic stats. I pulled up their numbers from last season – catches, yards, touchdowns, all that jazz. Just wanted to get a baseline understanding of what each guy brought to the table. I hopped onto ESPN and * to grab all the data I could find.
Then, I dug a little deeper. I started watching some game highlights. Stats are cool and all, but you gotta see these guys in action. Olave’s route running is so smooth, and Waddle is just explosive after the catch. It’s like watching art vs. a rocket ship. Found some good highlight reels on YouTube.
Next, I checked out their quarterback situations. Who’s throwing them the ball matters a ton, right? Olave’s got Derek Carr now, which could be an upgrade. Waddle’s with Tua Tagovailoa when he’s healthy, which is awesome, but that’s a big “if.” This was a huge factor for me. I read a bunch of articles about the QB situations and how they might impact the receivers.
I also looked at their team’s offenses overall. How many targets are realistically available? Who else are they competing with for catches? The Saints have a couple of other decent receivers, while Waddle’s got Tyreek Hill drawing attention. This made things even more complicated.
After all that research, I was still torn. Olave has the potential for a breakout season with a (hopefully) improved passing game. Waddle’s got the proven production, but the QB health is a real worry. I started thinking about my team’s needs.

So, what did I do? I ended up going with Chris Olave. I know, it’s a bit of a gamble. But I think he has the higher ceiling this year, and I needed a player with potential to explode. Plus, I already had a reliable guy in my WR1 slot, so I could afford to take a risk. Fingers crossed it pays off!
- My initial thought: Both are great, but who has the edge?
- The deep dive: Stats, highlights, QBs, team context.
- The agonizing decision: Weighing risks and rewards.
- The final choice: Olave for the upside!
Final thoughts
Fantasy football is always a crapshoot, but I feel good about the process I used to make this decision. Now, all I can do is watch the games and hope I made the right call. Wish me luck!
