Alright, let’s talk about today’s session. I decided to really zero in on some specific things, kinda inspired by watching some Christina Cruz fights recently. Her movement and technical skill, wow. Makes you wanna try harder, you know?

Getting Started
So, I got to the gym, usual routine first. Jumped rope for about 15 minutes. Nothing fancy, just getting the heart rate up, warming up the legs. Felt a bit stiff at first, always takes a few minutes to shake off the rust.
Then I moved onto shadow boxing. Really focused on loosening up the shoulders, getting the arms moving. Practiced basic footwork, stepping in and out, side to side. Tried to visualize an opponent, keep my hands up. Tried to keep Cruz’s fluid movement in mind, though obviously, I’m nowhere near that level!
Hitting the Bags
Moved over to the heavy bag next. This is where I wanted to apply some of that focus.
- Jabs: Spent a solid few rounds just on the jab. Snap it out, bring it back quick. Tried to work on speed and keeping it sharp, not lazy. Cruz has a great jab, sets everything up. So, jab, jab, move.
- Combinations: Started putting together simple combos. Jab-cross, jab-cross-hook. Tried to really sit down on the punches, get some power, but also stay balanced. It’s easy to get wild.
- Footwork Drills: While working the bag, I consciously focused on moving my feet. Not just standing there banging away. Step left, throw the hook. Step right, throw the cross. Create angles. Again, thinking about how Cruz controls distance. It’s harder than it looks!
- Body Shots: Mixed in some body shots after the head shots. Watched Cruz do this effectively. It changes the opponent’s focus. Tried hooking to the body after a cross.
Did maybe 6-7 rounds on the heavy bag. Sweating buckets by the end. You definitely feel it when you’re pushing yourself.
Finishing Up
After the bag work, I did some light shadow boxing again, more focused on defense this time. Slipping imaginary punches, rolling under hooks. Just keeping the head moving.

Then I finished with some conditioning. Did some planks, Russian twists, and crunches. Gotta keep the core strong, helps with power and stability.
Stretching is key! Spent a good 10 minutes stretching everything out – arms, shoulders, back, legs. Can’t skip this part if you want to avoid getting injured and be ready for the next session.
Man, boxing is humbling. You see fighters like Christina Cruz making it look effortless, the result of years and years of dedication. Then you get in there and try to replicate even a fraction of it… it’s a grind. But a good grind. Felt good to put the work in today, focused on those specifics. Every session, just trying to get a little bit better. That’s the goal.
