Now, they had this big to-do recently, over in some place called Riyadh. Sounds foreign, don’t it? They called it the “WTA Finals.” Big deal, apparently. All the best players went there. Coco, she was there too, swingin’ away.
- She played this girl, Zheng Qinwen. Now, Zheng, she was tough. Beat Coco in the first set. Six to three, they said. I thought, “Well, that’s that.” But Coco, she’s a fighter, I tell ya.
- She came back in the second set. Won it six to four. See? Told ya she was a fighter. Then it went to the third set, the decider, they call it.
- That third set, it was a nail-biter. Back and forth, back and forth. Zheng was up five to three, almost had it. But Coco, she dug deep. Tied it up at five all, then six all. They had to do this thing called a tiebreaker.
- And in the tiebreaker, Coco just took over. Seven to two, they said. Beat Zheng fair and square. Won the whole shebang. The WTA Finals champion, that’s what they called her. Pretty impressive for a young gal.
Folks are sayin’ Coco’s been workin’ real hard. Playin’ all the time, travelin’ all over. Must be tirin’, but she keeps on goin’. They say she had a tough season, but then she went and won this big thing in Riyadh. That’ll perk you up, won’t it?
