So, I did this thing, and I have to tell you about it. I got a neck tattoo, inspired by Cody Rhodes. Yeah, that wrestler guy. I saw his “American Nightmare” logo tattoo when he showed it off at that AEW Revolution event back in 2020, and I thought, “Damn, that’s bold.”
Now, I’m not usually one for big, flashy things, but there was something about that tattoo that just stuck with me. I kept thinking about it, you know? I did some digging, and it turns out a lot of people were talking about it online. Some loved it, some hated it. Even his wife, Brandi, wasn’t too sure about it at first. But Cody, he just owned it. He said in an interview, I read it somewhere that he wanted to wear his brand proudly, but didn’t want to copy The Rock’s bull tattoo or someone else’s chest tattoo.
That got me thinking even more. I’ve always been a fan of his, and I respected his dedication to his craft. I started toying with the idea of getting my own version of his tattoo. I mean, why not? It’s a cool design, and it represents something I admire, which is his determination and going for what you want, no matter what anyone else thinks.
So, I sketched out a few ideas. I didn’t want to copy Cody’s tattoo exactly, so I played around with the design, made it a bit more “me”, you know? Once I had something I liked, I started looking for a tattoo artist. I checked out a bunch of portfolios, talked to some people, and finally found this guy who seemed to really get what I was going for.
We scheduled a consultation, and I brought in my sketches. We talked about placement, size, all that stuff. He suggested a few tweaks to the design, which I actually really liked, they made it pop even more. We booked the appointment, and a few weeks later, I was sitting in his chair, getting inked.
Honestly, it hurt a bit more than I expected, especially on the neck. But it wasn’t unbearable. The artist was really chill, which helped. He kept checking in to make sure I was okay, and we even chatted a bit about wrestling, which was cool.
A few hours later, it was done. I looked in the mirror, and I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty stoked. It looked even better than I had imagined. It was bold, it was unique, and it was definitely “me.”
- First step: Saw Cody Rhodes’ tattoo.
- Second: Got inspired, started thinking about my own version.
- Third: Sketched some ideas, made it my own.
- Fourth: Found a tattoo artist, discussed the design and placement.
- Fifth: Got the tattoo!
I’ve had it for a while now, and I’m still really happy with it. It’s a conversation starter, for sure. Some people love it, some people are a bit confused, but that’s okay. It’s my body, and it’s my way of expressing myself. It reminds me to be bold, to be myself, and to go after what I want, just like Cody does.
So, yeah, that’s the story of my Cody Rhodes-inspired neck tattoo. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it.
