Okay, so I’ve been seeing Conor McGregor’s face plastered all over these alcohol brands lately, and I got curious. Figured I’d dive in and see what the fuss is all about. I mean, the guy’s a fighter, not a distiller or brewer, right? So, I started with some good ol’ research – you know, checking out websites, reading reviews, the usual.

Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
First up was his whiskey, Proper No. Twelve. I grabbed a bottle – wasn’t too hard to find, it’s pretty much everywhere. Honestly, the first sip? Strong. Like, McGregor-punch-to-the-face strong. I’m no whiskey expert, but it felt a bit…rough around the edges.
I tried it neat, then with a bit of ice, and finally in an Old Fashioned. It was definitely better with some mixers. Straight up, it wasn’t my favorite, but it did the job. It had that classic whiskey burn, a bit of sweetness, and some oaky flavor. I read somewhere it’s triple-distilled, whatever that means, but,it still felt young.
Forged Irish Stout
Next, I tackled his stout, Forged Irish Stout. Now, I’m more of a beer guy, so I had higher hopes for this one. I found it at, my local pub had it on tap.
First impression? Dark. Like, really dark. And the head was super creamy. The taste? Surprisingly smooth. It had that roasted coffee and chocolate thing going on, which I liked. It wasn’t too heavy, either, which was good. I could actually see myself having a few of these.
I did a little digging and found out he actually bought the brewery, He’s all about putting his brand on things,so i think that is interesting.

The Verdict?
So, after my little McGregor alcohol adventure, here’s what I think: The whiskey is…okay. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s decent enough, especially if you’re mixing it. The stout, though? That’s a winner in my book. I’d definitely order that again. It’s got a good flavor, it’s easy to drink, and it’s got that cool, dark look.
Overall, I’d say McGregor’s done a better job with the stout than the whiskey. But hey, he’s a fighter, not a master brewer or distiller. He’s put his name and face on some drinks, and one of them is actually pretty good. Worth a try if you’re curious, but don’t expect miracles from the whiskey.
