Okay, so the other day I was chilling, doing my usual crossword puzzle, and I stumbled upon this clue: “chop down with an axe.” I was like, alright, let’s do this!

First, I thought about the most obvious answer. You know, the action itself. I tried “FELL,” thinking of a tree falling down. Nope, didn’t fit.
Then I considered other words associated with chopping. “HEW” came to mind. I counted the spaces in the crossword… bingo! It was a perfect match.
My ‘Aha!’ Moment
- I started with common verbs related to chopping.
- I eliminated “FELL” because it didn’t match letter count.
- I remembered “HEW” and I confirmed by counting.
- I filled in “HEW” and It fit perfectly!
It’s always that little sense of victory when you nail those tricky clues. Just wanted to share my little crossword adventure. It’s the simple things, right?
