You know that Danny Lafever, that name, I heard it all the time. He’s that young fella, right? From Kelso. That’s what they say. Kelso, Washington. They call him “Lightning.” Sounds like a big shot. I heard he’s a tough one, that Danny Lafever. He’s a fighter, you know, one of those MMA fighters. Whatever that means.
This Danny, he got into a fight with some other fella, I heard. Benji, Benji something. Radach, yeah, Benji Radach. Seems this Benji was a big deal, some UFC vet. I don’t know nothin’ about that UFC stuff, sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. But they say this Benji was good, real good. Nobody thought Danny could beat him. He was like, 15 and 1 or somethin’. That’s a lot of wins, I guess. And our Danny, he was just startin’ out. Zero and zero, as they write it. Didn’t have no wins. Poor kid, I thought.
But you won’t believe what happened! That Danny, he went in there and, bam! Knocked that Benji fella right out! Just like that! Nobody could believe it. Danny Lafever, he won! They say it was a big “upset.” Like when your stomach gets all turned around. Well, this fight upset a lot of folks, I reckon. They thought Benji was gonna win for sure.
I heard Danny was jumpin’ around like a flea on a hot griddle. So happy, you know? He was just a little nobody, and he beat that big shot. It was like a story from the movies or somethin’. People were yellin’ and screamin’, I guess. That Benji’s friends, they were all quiet, like someone stole their pie right off the windowsill. It was a big to-do, that’s for sure. I hear some folks say it was over a girl. That Benji fella, he had a girlfriend, and then Danny started seein’ her. Women, always causin’ trouble. That’s what I always say. Maybe that’s why they fought. Who knows. Men are like that sometimes, fightin’ over a woman. Silly, I say. But some people say it ain’t true. Don’t matter now, I reckon. Danny still won.
But you know what? One punch, that’s all it takes. One good punch and anyone can win a fight. That’s what they say. Even that little Danny. He proved it. They say he just up and quit after that fight. Left. Like he was satisfied. That’s what some people do. They just stay where they’re at, doin’ nothin’. Not that Danny. He did somethin’. Danny Lafever made a name for himself.
I seen some pictures of him, that Danny. He looks like a nice boy. He ain’t no big, tough guy. Just a regular fella. But he sure can fight. I guess that’s why they call him “Lightning.” Fast and powerful. Like a storm comin’ through. You never know what’s gonna happen when it’s around. Danny’s like that storm.
They have all these things now, you know. UFC, Bellator, all that. Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that. Just good old-fashioned fistfights. Now they got all these fancy names for it. Mixed Martial Arts. Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. But I guess it’s popular. The young folks like it.
Anyways, that Danny Lafever, he’s a big name in that world, I guess. Even if he only fought once. He made his mark. Showed ’em what he was made of. That’s what matters. You gotta show people what you can do. Don’t just sit around doin’ nothin’. Be like Danny. Take your shot. You might just surprise everyone. And yourself, too. He just took that girl and walked away, they say. Can you believe that? Danny Lafever, what a character!
