My Little Search for Richie James’ Speed
So, I got curious about Richie James the other day. Was just watching some highlights, and the thought popped into my head – what was his actual 40 time coming out of college? You see him make those shifty moves, get separation, and you wonder about the raw speed numbers.
First thing I did was just hop on my computer and type it in. You know, “Richie James 40 time”. Pretty basic search. Expected it to be the first result, easy peasy.
Well, it wasn’t quite that simple. Got a load of articles back, sure. Lots about his stats at Middle Tennessee State – dude was productive! Then stuff about his NFL journey, bouncing from the Niners to the Giants, then landing with the Chiefs. Saw plenty of news bits, injury reports, even fantasy football advice.
Sifting through all that took a minute. Some fan sites had numbers thrown around, but you never know how accurate those are. I wanted something concrete, something official if possible.
Digging a Bit Deeper
My next thought was to look specifically for NFL Combine results. That felt like the most reliable place. So I changed my search up a bit, looking for “Richie James combine results” or something similar.
- That helped filter out some of the extra noise.
- Started seeing links to actual sports statistics sites and draft profiles.
- I clicked into a couple of the more reputable-looking ones.
And there it was, listed pretty consistently across the reliable sources. The official time recorded for Richie James at the 2018 NFL Combine was 4.48 seconds. Not bad at all.
So, yeah, 4.48. Seems reasonable when you watch his tape. He’s quick, definitely has that burst needed for the slot and returning kicks. It’s not world-burning speed, but it’s legit NFL speed. Took a bit of clicking around, but I tracked down the number I was looking for. Just a little bit of digital digging to satisfy my curiosity.
