Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella Roger Clemens and that little gal Mindy McCready. It’s a real mess, like a chicken coop after a fox gets in.
Roger Clemens, the Baseball Fella
See, this Roger, they called him “Rocket” ’cause he could throw a baseball real fast. He was a big deal, made a whole lotta money, like seventy million dollars they say. That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life, I tell ya. He played for a long time, won a bunch of games, struck out a whole heap of batters. Now he’s retired, playin’ with his grandbabies, teachin’ ’em ’bout baseball. He even got one of them charity things, helpin’ folks out, I guess. Good for him, I reckon.
Mindy McCready, the Singin’ Gal
Then there’s this Mindy. She was a country singer, real pretty little thing. Folks liked her singin’, made her famous. But she had a hard time, like a field full of rocks. Got into trouble with the law, drugs, all sorts of stuff. Real sad, it was. She ended up passin’ away a few years back, poor thing. Too young, she was.
- She was just a young gal when all this happened
- She had a beautiful voice, real purdy
- But life wasn’t easy on her, not one bit
The Mess They Got Into
Now, here’s where it gets messy. Back in 2008, they said Mindy and Roger, they had a thing goin’ on. She was just a young’un, fifteen they said, when it started. Fifteen! That ain’t right, no matter how ya slice it. Roger, he said she was just a “close family friend.” Hmph, close family friend, my foot! They was more than friends, that’s for sure.
Mindy, she said she wanted to marry him, but he wouldn’t. So she broke it off, she said. Then there was all this talk about steroids with Roger, the government lookin’ into it. And Mindy, she was hidin’ in her house, blinds drawn tight, scared as a rabbit in a dog kennel. It was all over the news, papers, TV, everywhere you looked. Folks was talkin’, shakin’ their heads, just like they do when somethin’ scandalous happens.
Toby Keith, a True Friend
And somewhere in all this mess, there was Toby Keith. He was a country singer too, a real big star. Roger, he said Toby was a true friend. Toby’s gone now too. Seems like all these folks, they had it good for a while, then things just went south. It’s a reminder, I guess, that life ain’t always easy, even if you got money and fame.
What’s it All Mean?
I don’t know what to make of it all, to be honest. It’s just a sad story, all tangled up like a ball of yarn. A famous baseball player, a troubled country singer, a secret relationship, accusations, heartache. It’s enough to make your head spin. But one thing’s for sure, it teaches ya that fame and fortune ain’t everything. Sometimes, it just brings more trouble than it’s worth. And treatin’ folks right, that’s what really matters in the end, not how fast you can throw a ball or how pretty you can sing.
Roger Now a Days
Now Roger spends his time with them grandbabies. He seems like he turned over a new leaf. Playing baseball and forgetting all this old mess. Maybe that’s for the best. It ain’t right what happened but what’s done is done. Just gotta move on I guess.
