Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with this wrestling move, the diving headbutt. Yeah, the one Chris Benoit used to do. It’s a pretty wild move, looks awesome when it’s done right, but man, it’s a tough one to get down.
First off, I started by watching a bunch of old matches. You know, just trying to get a feel for how the pros do it. Benoit, he was a master at it, but I also checked out some others like Harley Race, who apparently invented it, and Dynamite Kid. These guys made it look so easy, but trust me, it’s not.
- Watched a ton of videos.
- Tried to copy what I saw.
- Failed… a lot.
Next, I tried to break it down into smaller parts. You gotta get the jump right, the positioning in the air, and then, of course, the landing. I started with just jumping off the ground, trying to get some height. Then, I moved on to jumping off a chair, which was a bit scary, not gonna lie.
The hardest part was definitely getting the form right in the air. You gotta arch your back, aim with your head, and hope for the best. I practiced this part over and over, just jumping and trying to get the motion right. I fell down more times than I can count, but I kept at it.
Practice makes perfect
After a while, I started to get the hang of it. I was getting more height, my form was improving, and I wasn’t falling as much. But man, it was still a challenge. And my head started to hurt a lot if I landed wrong! So I stopped.
I read somewhere that Harley Race said not to do this move because it’s so dangerous. And I finally understood what he was talking about. I was getting hurt, so I definitely am not doing that anymore! I do not recommend anyone else do it either. It’s really not worth it.
So, yeah, that’s my story of trying to learn the diving headbutt. It’s a crazy move, and it’s definitely not for everyone. If you’re thinking about trying it, I’d say be very careful. It’s a lot harder than it looks, and it’s really, really easy to get hurt. Don’t be like me, I’m a dummy. Stay safe, folks!
