Alright, so I’ve been messing around with Dragon’s Dogma 2, and I wanted to share my experience with building up this pawn named Salvatore. This whole pawn system is pretty wild, right? You basically get to create and customize these AI companions, and they can even be hired by other players. So, I wanted to make sure Salvatore was top-notch.
I started by making him a Mage. Seemed like a good choice since they can heal and buff. I spent a good chunk of time just fiddling with his appearance. I wanted him to look cool but also be easily recognizable. Gotta make a good impression, you know?
- First thing I did was focus on his skills. There’s a bunch to choose from, but I decided to go all-in on support. I gave him the healing spells, of course, and then some spells to cure status effects. Nothing worse than your pawn getting frozen or something and being useless.
- Next up, Inclinations. These are basically personality traits that affect how your pawn acts in battle. I went with “Kindhearted” because I figured that would make him prioritize healing and support. There were other options like “Simple” or “Calm,” but Kindhearted felt right.
- Specializations were a bit trickier. There are a bunch of options here. I was reading some stuff online, and a lot of people were saying that “Logistician” is good for support pawns because they’ll combine materials and make healing items. So, I went with that for Salvatore.
Now, here’s where it got interesting. I started taking Salvatore out on quests with me, and I noticed some things. He was definitely healing me and my other pawn, which was great. But sometimes he seemed to get a little lost in combat. He wasn’t really casting any attack spells. He would just kind of stand there until someone needed healing.
I did some more digging online, and I found out that maybe focusing ONLY on support wasn’t the best idea. Some folks were saying that pawns need at least one or two attack spells to be effective. So, I decided to experiment a bit.
- I removed one of his lesser-used support spells and replaced it with “High Levin” which is a lightning spell. I figured that would give him something to do when everyone’s health was topped off.
- I also messed around with his equipment. I made sure he had the best staff I could find and some gear that boosted his magic stats. I’m not gonna lie, finding the right gear was a bit of a grind.
After these changes, Salvatore was a whole new pawn. He was still prioritizing healing, which was great. But now, when there was a lull in the action, he’d actually throw out some lightning bolts! It made a huge difference. He felt way more useful, and we were able to take on some tougher enemies.
So, yeah, that’s my story about building up Salvatore. It’s been a fun process of trial and error. I’m still tweaking things here and there, but I’m pretty happy with how he’s turned out. I hope other players find him useful when they hire him. It’s pretty cool to think that my little creation is out there helping other people in their adventures. If you’re playing Dragon’s Dogma 2, keep an eye out for Salvatore! You might just see him wandering around.
