Alright, guys, so I finally decided to tackle the platinum trophy for Final Fantasy 16. I’d been putting it off, but I’m a big FF fan, so I knew I had to do it eventually. Here’s how it all went down, my struggles, and the tips I picked up along the way.

Getting Started – The First Playthrough
First things first, I just played the game. I didn’t even look at the trophy list. I wanted to experience the story without worrying about missables or anything. So, I picked “Action Focused” mode, thinking it would be a good balance. Honestly, it was pretty easy, even on this mode. I just soaked it all in, enjoying the cutscenes, the world, and Clive’s journey. I finished the main story in about 45-50 hours, I think.
Clean Up Time – Round 1
After beating the game, I finally checked out the trophy guide. I was relieved to see there were very minimal missable trophies. I knew now that I should keep a few save file backups just in case. The first thing I did was load up my clear save. This is important because your clear save have all your completed side quests, hunts, and collectable items, and it carries over to your new game+
- I finished up all the side quests I had missed. Some of them were pretty cool, actually, giving you more backstory on the world and characters.
- I hunted down all the Notorious Marks (the hunts). Those were fun, some tough battles there!
- I crafted the best gear I could at the * will help you to start stronger when going to Final Fantasy mode.
New Game Plus – Final Fantasy Mode
Now for the real challenge: Final Fantasy mode. I started a New Game+, carrying over my stats and gear. Man, this mode is no joke! Enemies hit way harder, and their placements are different. It was awesome! I made sure to save very often this time. It is better be safe than be sorry.
My main goal here was to get to level 100. I needed that to get some more level related trophies, as well as upgrade all my abilities to their maximum level, and you can only do that in the Final Fantasy Mode. I made sure to do every side quest again. I used the EXP boosting accessories when I could, to make sure that I will not get bored with the grind. The grind was real, but replaying those boss fights on a higher difficulty was pretty exhilarating.
The Final Push
After getting all abilities and reaching level 100, I load back up my save from previous play through. It was time to finish the Chronolith Trials. Each trial is all about using certain Eikon’s abilities, and beating a few waves of enemies in a row. I found some trials to be quite frustrating but I looked up some video guides on how to beat them.

Once I finished all the trials, I was just a few trophies away. It was just a matter of mastering all Eikonic abilities and traits, upgrading all my weapons, and buy a bunch of collectables. Once I got all of that, that sweet, sweet platinum trophy popped! It was such a satisfying feeling.
So, yeah, that was my journey to the Final Fantasy 16 platinum. It was a grind, especially Final Fantasy mode, but totally worth it. If you’re thinking about going for it, just take it step by step, and don’t be afraid to use guides if you get stuck. Good luck, fellow trophy hunters!
