Okay, so I saw this thing going around about the “best offense in college football 25” and, you know me, I gotta jump in and figure this stuff out myself. No way I’m just taking some random list as gospel.

First, I grabbed my trusty notepad and started brainstorming what even makes a good offense. Points per game? Total yards? Big plays? Gotta consider it all, right?
Then, I dove into the stats. ESPN, the official NCAA site, you name it – I was pulling data from everywhere. I spent hours just copying and pasting numbers into a messy spreadsheet. It was a data overload, for sure!
Digging Through the Numbers
- Points per game: Seemed like the obvious starting point. Who’s actually putting up the most points?
- Total yards: Because, hey, you gotta move the ball to score, right?
- Passing yards vs. Rushing yards: Gotta see the balance, or if a team is totally one-dimensional.
- Turnovers: Can’t be giving the ball away and expect to be the “best,” no matter how many points you score.
I started highlighting the top teams in each category, trying to find some overlap. Were there teams that were consistently at the top? Or was it a total mixed bag?
Honestly, it was kind of messy. Some teams were amazing at scoring but gave up a ton of turnovers. Others were yardage monsters but couldn’t seem to punch it in the end zone. My spreadsheet was turning into a rainbow of highlighted cells.
After staring at the numbers for what felt like forever, I started noticing some patterns. A few teams kept popping up: high scores, lots of yards, and (relatively) low turnovers. Bingo!

My (Totally Unofficial) Conclusion
I am not going to lie, after many tries, I did get a list that I felt pretty confident about my list, though I’m sure I’ll get some hate for some omissions. It is a tough job! After all, It’s all about putting the pieces together, isn’t it? Anyway, gotta run – time to watch some actual games!
